The defending champion Denver Nuggets had a few bumpy games without their sharpshooting point guard, Jamal Murray. The Nuggets have lost 4 games against 9 wins and are looking to break the spell in the match tonight against the Detroit Pistons. Murray is out because of the back-string injuries he got while playing in a win against the Bulls. Nikola Jokic is still putting in great numbers without his right-hand man Murray. The Nuggets have consecutively lost the last two matches against the Pelicans and the Cavs. Pistons, on the other hand, are on a rough start‌ this year. They have only won 2 matches so far and lost 12 of them. He is a key piece to the Nuggets’ win.

The dominant Jamal Murray started the season with a bang. In his last seven appearances, he averaged 16.3 points and 7.4 assists per game.

The Nuggets have been cautious with Murray’s recovery, as they don’t want to risk re-injuring him. Without him, the Nuggets are aiming for an easy clinch over the Pistons on their home court. It appears that Murray is not nearing a return to the lineup tonight. At the time of writing this, the Nuggets have not submitted the official injury report for tonight’s game.

It’s a long season and Murray is an asset for a long run. Even without him, the Nuggets look strong on both ends for tonight’s game. Michale Malone, in an interview, says about Murray’s injury “You always worry about those types of injuries, because they can stick around for a while. So we have to be smart about it.”

Roster lineup for Nuggets and Pistons

Without Jamal, Denver will probably begin with their usual starter. Jokic, Caldwell-Pope, Reggie Jackson, Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon. Jokic is already in the MVP race and putting up strong stats. He is averaging near triple-double with 29.7 points, 14.1 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game. So the Nuggets look strong.

Cade Cunningham is the loner player who is putting up 21.2 points and 7.4 assists so far for the Pistons. Both teams are hungry for the win. Short in strength, the Pistons will have Ausar Thompson, Isiah Stewart, Jaden Ivey, and Kevin Knox as their starters with Cunningham.
