Just when people thought they were out, they get pulled back in! After entering the ongoing tournament as an underdog team, the New York Knicks defeated the 76ers for the 4 time during the playoffs and earned a spot in the Eastern Conference SFs. The recent faceoff was a close one, with the Knicks winning it barely by a score of 118-115. Knowing how easily they could have had the wins for their favorite team, 76ers fans needed someone to put the blame on. That person has emerged to be the team’s power forward Tobias Harris.

Despite being on the court for 29 minutes, Harris delivered one of the worst performances of his career by scoring just 0 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. This brought on the wrath of NBA enthusiasts on social media. One of them proceeded to highlight the player’s 5-year, $180 million contract which does not seem to have done much favours for the 76ers.

Another user followed the same line of criticism towards the 31-year-old power forward. She praised herself just for having fully watched Harris’ performance and “survived” knowing just how much the player was paid.

Amidst the celebration, one 76ers fan proceeded to praise his team for playing a great series. This compelled an individual to state that the franchise can perform even better if they choose to cut ties with Harris.

If you were feeling bad about sitting on the couch whilst watching a bunch of players sweat it on the court, this social media user was there to make you feel better with his Tobias Harris roast.

76ers star player Joel Embiid led the offensive effort, despite his availability earlier being under question. While he ended his minutes by accumulating a total of 39 points, his performance started to drop during the 4 quarter. According to Statmuse, the player had only a 23.1% success rate with his field goals, while his three-pointer percentage was even lower at 11.1%. Instead of criticizing Embiid, however, one X user called out his teammate for not picking up the slack during this crucial time.

All in all, the reactions on social media were overwhelmingly negative towards Tobias Harris. For someone who had ended his regular season run through an average score of 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists, this was certainly not the way to conclude the 76ers final game of the tournament. Fans were upset by the 3 point loss, and they didn’t hesitate in pointing fingers.

Sam Mitchell calls out Tobias Harris: “If [he] does anything …. Philly wins this game”

Tobias Harris was brought in by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2019 as someone who would be one of the faces of the offensive effort. Amongst his roster, he earned the second highest salary. That journey has now concluded, since the player will be enlisting as a free agent during the postseason. His 0-point exit has now become a topic of conversation amongst several NBA enthusiasts. Amongst them is former Minnesota Timberwolves player and analyst Sam Mitchell.

During a recent segment on the ‘NBA TV’ show, Mitchell highlighted Harris as someone who’s “making around $40 million” and yet attempting only two field goals during the matchup. However, he didn’t diminish the player’s commendable contribution during the previous games, which made the current situation even worse.

“To go out and play 29 minutes, only take two shots, and don’t score… If [Tobias Harris] does anything, not only Philly wins this game, they probably win this series,” said Mitchell.

The 60-year-old analyst further highlighted that the 76ers player finds trouble adapting to the new system that “every NBA team is running out”. From ‘Read and React’ to ‘Drawing the Double T’, none of these movements is what Harris is good at.

“He needs some sets, he needs some plays” Mitchell continued. “He needs a package of plays where he gets the ball in his area”.
