Luka Doncic incorporated his love for cars into the making of his upcoming signature sneaker. The Dallas Mavericks star guard emerged as the face of the Jordan brand very early on in his career. They recognized his talent and took the call to sign Doncic up as soon as he entered the league. As of now, the collaboration has paved the way for two sneakers and they are all set to unveil their third signature piece. Before that, the owner of $25 million worth of cars revealed the most important detail in making The Luka 3.

In the latest interview with Esquire, the Mavs star opened up about his love for cars and how it turned into an unexpected idea. Luka Doncic revealed, “The Luka 3 is inspired by cars.” Over the years, the Jordan brand established itself, focusing more on performance rather than design. The brand brought in IsoPlate tech to their shoes that facilitates stabilization in momentum and directional shifts. Notably, the Mavs star, who is known for his flurry of step-backs and no-look passes, benefitted from it.

However, this time around, the brand focused on the design along with performance. Speaking of the making, Doncic said, “I have meetings with Jordan every few months. They put options up on a screen, and I tell them what I like and what I don’t like. It’s how we get to the final product.” Sports Illustrated stated that the sneaker’s design isn’t the only one that drew inspiration from cars, but also its performance.

When will The Luka 3 hit the market?

The fans could get a glimpse of the sneaker in a few days. After months of toiling hard on the court, the Mavs secured the 5th seed on the West. They will be taking on the star-studded LA Clippers in the first round. With Kyrie Irving by his side, Luka Doncic may have the advantage over the LA boys. Nevertheless, the Slovenian star may also debut The Luka 3 during that series. And, the fans could get a glimpse of the carefully designed product. The sneakers are expected to come in 5 colorways and cost around $130.
