However, a lot of the players engage in verbal sparring for various reasons, such as boosting team morale, getting inside the opponents’ heads, rivalries, or simply for fun. One such player is Philadelphia 76ers‘ Patrick Beverly, notorious for his in-game trash talks. Talking about what he does best, Patrick goes undercover on the internet. This time, he’s answering a bunch of interesting questions among which was about the top five trash talkers in the NBA.

Hosted by GQ Sports for an episode of ‘Actually Me’,?Patrick goes undercover to reply to comments on different social media platforms. A Quora user posted the question, “Who are the biggest trash talkers in the NBA?” Without missing a beat, Patrick immediately gets to work listing the top five trash talkers that he calls the “Cool Little Five‘.

Making it to the list were Golden State Warriors‘ Draymond Green and Pheonix SunsKevin Durant, who he says are, “for sure” without a doubt, among the top trash talkers. Luca Doncic also earns a spot on the list, although Patrick says he is, “low-key as hell“. It should come as no surprise that Russell Westbrook also joins them on the list. Rounding off the top five list, Patrick includes his own name saying, “I’m definitely somewhere up there.” The Sixers’ guard is no stranger to trash-talking.

Dallas Mavericks star Luca Doncic joined the three future Hall of Famers Draymond, Russ, and Patrick on the list, along with Hall of Famer KD. It’s not such a bad look if one thinks about it. Luca is known for employing trash-talking to fuel his performance in the court; which has often proved to work for him.

In fact, Luca admits that he likes it when players trash talk to him as it only pumps him up and gets him going. The players that made it to the list are the top players in the league. Maybe trash-talking does the trick. If only the NBA let us hear all the trash-talking in-game, that would be the icing on the cake.
