Kyle Lowry had an eventful debut for his hometown, the Philadelphia 76ers. In his first game against the New York Knicks, it took him 40 seconds after coming in to open his scoring account. Moments later he was down on the floor holding his forehead in agony. The six-time All-Star faced an inadvertent elbow from Jeremy Sims. It slashes his forehead. But raised in Philly made him tough. He returned with six stitches on his forehead, ironically shaped in the form of a ‘7’, his number with the Sixers.

The inspiring efforts summed up his mentality. However, he wasn’t nearly healthy enough to play against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lowry was given rest to return to game shape after suffering the horrific injury against the Knicks.

The next challenge for the Joel Embiid-less Sixers, who are 7-15 without him is against their conference rivals – the Milwaukee Bucks. Both teams are adjusting to a new environment. Philly trying to maintain its position without Embiid and the Bucks trying to fit into the Doc Rivers mindset.

However, one man declared his rivalry against Lowry. Patrick Beverley, the man the Sixers traded to the Bucks and essentially replaced with the former Raptors guard openly said he will run after Lowry when they visit. But will he get the chance?

Will Kyle Lowry play against the Bucks?

Beverley is unfiltered when speaking on his podcast or on the NBA court. During one of the episodes, the defense-minded guard spoke about the Sixers’ newest acquisition when they signed veteran Kyle Lowry. At first, he thought it was fair, Doc Rivers signed him and Nick Nurse, who coached Lowry when the head coach of the Raptors found his preferred point guard.

While being understanding, Pat Bev issued a challenge only moments later.

“Doc [Rivers] came and got his guy—me—and [Nick] Nurse went and got his guy—Kyle. But now I see Nurse’s hand. Man, I’m on Kyle’s ass when we play Philly. Straight up. That’s just how it goes. That’s just how it goes, like, how dare you?” he said on the podcast. 

Unfortunately, there is a possibility of Lowry not playing against the Milwaukee Bucks tonight. After suffering a brutal elbow to the forehead, Lowry was listed as out against the Cavaliers, a game the Sixers won. Since then there has been no further update on his status for the game against their conference foes.

It is likely that Nurse, who is dealing with injuries to a number of his influential players will take a safe approach when it comes to Lowry. As much as the NBA fans would love to see Beverley unfold all his antics against Lowry, who is a quirky player himself, it is unsure whether the matchup will happen tonight.
