The LSU Tigers, the university’s basketball team, is one to watch out for during March Madness every year. Their elite coaching staff deserves all the credit.

Taking to Twitter, 21-year-old Angel Reese gave associate head coach Bob Starkey some credit. Having a coach like @CoachBobStarkey that has coached Shaq and Sylvia!!! WHAT A BLESSING!”, wrote Reese on Twitter.

Starkey has an impressive 30-year-old SEC coaching record. He was in charge of coaching the LSU basketball team, both men’s and women’s programs, from 1989 to 2011 before taking a one-year hiatus to coach Auburn. Interestingly, this happens to be Charles Barkley’s alumni.

Starkey returned to LSU in 2022 to join as Kim Mulkey’s associate head coach. Mulkey was previously involved with the Baylor University women’s basketball team and coached controversial WNBA star, Brittney Griner. Shaq played under Starkey when the coach served as Dale Brown’s associate coach.

Shaq’s stats at LSU compared to Reese

There is no denying that both Shaq and Reese are two of the brightest athletes to have come out of LSU. The Los Angeles Lakers legend averaged 21.6 points, 1.7 assists and a whopping 13.5 rebounds in three seasons.
