“We want a large family. I don’t think we’re done. We’re definitely not done.” Giannis Antetokounmpo’s wife, Mariah Riddlesprigger, made this statement during an Instagram Live session back in 2023. Lo and behold, the couple announced within a year that they were expecting a 4th child. Over the last few months, NBA fans have been treated to several updates from the basketball star and his wife, from sharing the baby bump through a carousel of photos on Instagram to Giannis revealing his plans for his NBA Cup money by stating “I have to go Christmas shopping, and I have another baby on the way … The money is already gone”. Throughout it all, fans waited and waited for the young one to soon make his/her entry into the world. Now, finally, that wait is over.
Mariah Riddlesprigger recently took to her official Instagram account to share the good news many had been waiting for. Her post featured the newborn wrapped up in covers featuring ducks, with a bow on her head, and her eyes closed as she slept peacefully, oblivious to the outside world. Mariah wrote a caption alongside the post that read “Aria Capri 💛”.
A beautiful name for a beautiful soul. In less than 30 minutes, the post received up to 26,000+ likes, with comments of congratulations from renowned NBA personalities like Rachel Nichols.

The good news could not have come at a better time for the couple. At least, it could not have come at a better time for Giannis. After all, it was only a few days ago when the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated from the 1st round of the playoffs. The team lost 4 out of 5 games against the Indiana Pacers. From Gary Trent Jr’s on-court productivity to the Bucks losing the lead in overtime, several factors emerged as the reason for Giannis Antetokounmpo and co experiencing the same setback as they did last year.
As if the elimination wasn’t bad enough, Giannis got involved in a scuffle with John Haliburton, father of Tyrese Haliburton. They had an exchange of words in a manner that led others to forcefully separate them from each other. Therefore, amid so many unfortunate moments, nothing could have made Giannis happier than finally getting to hold his newborn in his arms.
Grief over the NBA loss would have now taken a backseat, as Giannis and Mariah enter a new chapter of parenthood. Furthermore, taking care of four children would not leave enough time for ‘The Greek Freak’ to worry about what could have been. However, will this happy family just stop at 4 children? Well, probably not if the NBA player has anything to say about that.

With four kids now, is Giannis Antetokounmpo the ultimate family man of the NBA?
Have an interesting take?
Giannis Antetokounmpo once corrected Mariah on the number of children they should have: “You said seven!”
Back in 2023, Mariah Riddlesprigger hosted another one of her classic IG Live sessions. Whenever she or Giannis engages in this, they create some memorable moments for fans. After all, ‘The Greek Freak’ has no filter in such sessions. This was seen when he once openly said, “I don’t play Fortnite either, I just foreplay at night”. Yikes!
Fortunately, Mariah had the charge in this IG Live session. During the same time, the former volleyball player shared that she and Giannis were keen on having a big family. Her exact words were, “Giannis would have 10 if he could”. Mariah then added, “But I think five or six the most.” This perked up Giannis’s ears. From the other end of the room, sounding like he had a heart attack, he yelled, “Five? You said seven!”

Well, if anyone can raise seven children, it is Giannis Antetokounmpo. After all, this is the same player who recently signed a 3-year, $175.369 million contract extension. According to Forbes, his current net worth stands at $93.8 million. Then again, 7 children can be quite a handful. Therefore, unless it is ‘The Greek Freak’s plan to raise his own basketball team, he might wanna reconsider his previous stance.
