Alex Rodriguez wasn’t exactly blending in with the gloomy Lakers fans on Saturday night—and honestly, why would he? Courtside in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, fitness coach Jaclyn Cordeiro, A-Rod looked like he was loving every second as his Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards embarrassed the Lakers 117-95 in Game 1 of the playoffs. Not bad for a guy better known for October baseball than April basketball, right?
And just when you thought that was peak excitement, Game 2 brought the kind of moment you rewind a dozen times. Early in the third quarter, Julius Randle dished the ball to Anthony Edwards at the top of the key. Without hesitation, Edwards made his move toward the rim—and waiting under the basket was Jaxson Hayes.
What happened next? Let’s just say it brought the arena to its feet.

Edwards detonated on Jaxson Hayes with a dunk so filthy, it sent Rodriguez, 2009 World Series champion, springing out of his seat like it was a walk-off homer! You could feel that one through the screen. No matter which jersey you’re wearing, it was electric.
ANTHONY EDWARDS POSTER MY GOODNESS. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Even though the Wolves were down big at halftime, trailing 68-43, Edwards wasn’t going down quietly. He caught fire in the third, pouring in 19 points and dragging Minnesota back into the fight. That dunk? It wasn’t just poster-worthy—it was a pulse check. But before that happened, LeBron James and Rui Hachimura were embarrassed.
It all started on a sideline inbound early in the third. Mike Conley stood ready to put the ball in play with Rui Hachimura guarding tight. Julius Randle darted toward the ball, looking to create a clean passing lane. LeBron James stayed right on him, trying to blow up the play before it developed.

But here’s where things went off script—LeBron clipped Randle’s foot while trailing the cut. That stumble sent him crashing straight into Hachimura, who had his back turned while focused on Conley. It was like a human domino effect. LeBron hit the floor, knocked Rui off balance, and suddenly the Lakers’ spacing vanished.
Before anyone could recover, the ball found its way to Edwards at the top of the key.
If you blinked, you missed how fast it all unraveled for LA. Sometimes it’s the chaos before the play that tells the real story—and this one had all the drama of a playoff moment gone sideways. But rewind to Saturday night, and Edwards was already stirring the pot—this time, off the ball and off the court.
Anthony Edwards gets fined by the NBA once again
Edwards just added another hefty fine to his growing tab with the league. On Tuesday, the NBA hit him with a $50,000 penalty for hurling inappropriate language and flashing an obscene gesture at a fan during Saturday night’s dominant win over the Lakers. It happened with 4:33 left in the third quarter, while the Timberwolves were cruising with an 85–61 lead.

As the players waited near the scorer’s table during a timeout, Edwards and a courtside fan exchanged words—and Ant clearly let the moment get the best of him.
Now, if you’ve followed Edwards this season, this feels like deja vu. The guy’s been racking up fines like he’s in a real-life version of Monopoly. In total, he’s shelled out $622,000 this year for everything from obscene gestures and foul language to straight-up refusing to leave the court after an ejection. He even got suspended for hitting the 16-technical mark.

That’s not counting the time he tossed the game ball into the crowd or dropped expletives on live TV interviews like it was no big deal.

Look, Edwards plays with fire, and fans love that edge. But the league? Not so much. At some point, someone in his camp’s gotta step in and say, “Hey man, that money could’ve bought you a beachfront mansion.” Ant might be a star on the rise, but those fines are adding up fast.
