Anthony Edwards is the most exciting player to watch in this year’s postseason. It’s not just that he plays an electric brand of basketball—it’s who he’s doing it against. Ant-Man bounced LeBron James and Stephen Curry in the back-to-back series. And now, as he takes on this year’s top-seed in the Western Conference Finals, he has done something no Timberwolves player has done before—not even the legendary Kevin Garnett!
Heading into tonight’s game, Ant-Man had 1,033 points for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Playoffs. But after putting up 32 points in Game 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Ant-Man made history. With 1,065 points, he’s now the highest scorer in the postseason for the Timberwolves. And right behind him is the former NBA champ Kevin Garnett, with 1,049 points!
What’s crazy about this is that it took around 12 years and 8 postseasons to reach his tally of 1,049 points. On the other hand, the 23-year-old was only drafted in 2020. And it took him just 38 postseason games across 4 years to close the gap and eventually surpass KG. There’s no understating how incredible this accomplishment is for the shooting guard.

However, Edwards has a long way to go before he can claim the spot of being Minnesota’s all-time scoring leader. After all, with 19,201 points, Garnett is firmly perched atop the scorer’s list for Minnesota. And as good as Anthony Edwards is, we still think it’ll be a while before he claims even this record from the Minnesota and Celtics legend.
However, this postseason, Anthony Edwards has the chance to further cement himself as a legend in Minnesota despite only being a 23-year-old. But he faces quite the uphill battle in his quest to do so.

Anthony Edwards can make history for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season
Minnesota has not seen an NBA title within its state boundaries since the Minneapolis Lakers called the Northern state their home. So for over 50 years, they’ve endured a trophy drought like none other. Even after the Timberwolves organization was established, nothing really changed. Players like Kevin Garnett, Jimmy Butler, and Kevin Love, among others, weren’t able to bring the Larry O’Brien trophy to Minnesota.
What’s your perspective on:
Has Anthony Edwards already surpassed Kevin Garnett as the greatest Timberwolf in playoff history?
Have an interesting take?
But now, the Timberwolves have a ray of hope in the form of a brash, loud-mouthed sensation called Anthony Edwards. Only 23, Ant-Man is already an Olympic Gold Medalist with Team USA. So it’s safe to say he knows what it takes to be a champion. And he’s never been better poised to win than this year, but he still faces an uphill battle.

He made it to the Western Conference Finals this year off the heels of eliminating LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Stephen Curry from the Playoffs. That’s an incredible feat for anyone, let alone a player who’s not even 25 yet! One more series win and the NBA title is within reach for the shooting guard. But this year’s MVP stands in his way alongside his top-seeded team. Yes, we’re talking about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
With them already going 2-0 up against the Timberwolves, it will not be easy for the T-Wolves guard to turn this series around. However, we know how tenacious and strong-willed he can be. So we know he’s not giving up even if his team were 3-0 down. And if he can help the Timberwolves mount a comeback and get to the NBA Finals, he won’t just be their top scorer in the postseason; he will etch history in the Timberwolves jersey. And that’s something everyone in Minnesota wants to see!
