After failing to capitalize on Stephen Curry’s early exit in Game 1, the Minnesota Timberwolves didn’t let those errors repeat. The Target Center anticipated a powerful performance. And their team delivered. They didn’t let the Warriors lead at any point in the game and cruised to a series-levelling 24-point victory in Game 2. Likewise, the Wolves’ fanbase was jubilant. However, nobody could have foreseen NFL legend Michael Irvin’s happiness when he shared an embrace with Anthony Edwards.

Irvin spent his entire NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, the city that kept Ant-Man from making the NBA Finals last season. However, the legendary wide receiver was at the Target Center tonight to witness the stellar postseason action between the two Western Conference giants. And to say the least, he was satisfied.

The player who won his heart seemed to be Anthony Edwards. The Timberwolves ace nearly caused peril early in the game. After Trayce Jackson-Davis accidentally stepped on his ankle, the 23-year-old briefly went to the locker room. It seemed to be the end of his night. But Edwards bounced back. The chance to win and gain momentum before hitting the road was invaluable.

And Irvin was touched by his display. After the game, the duo could be seen sharing a light-hearted conversation before they posed for a photograph. Just as they were about to part ways, the Cowboys legend appreciated Edwards. He kissed him on the cheeks for his display of bravery and vital contributions in Game 2.

And Edwards was truly spectacular. After what seemed to be a dreadful injury, Chris Finch revealed he wasn’t expecting the Wolves’ young gun to return. Not only did he shock everyone by stepping out, but Ant-Man also produced a fine performance to level the series against the Warriors.

He finished the game with 20 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. But mainly his defensive effort contributed to the Wolves building a large lead they would never let go. His three steals and a block set the tone for the Wolves as the series now sits at a tantalizing position.

Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves torch the Warriors

Despite their loss in Game 1, the series favored the Minnesota Timberwolves from the moment Stephen Curry’s injury update came out. The Baby Face Assassin watched from the sidelines today and is expected to be out for the next two games at the Chase Center. However, that didn’t mean the Minnesota Timberwolves took the series lightly.

The Warriors still carry years of experience, more than the young Timberwolves. Hence, they left no stone unturned in Game 2. While Anthony Edwards couldn’t establish his dominance — he trusted Julius Randle.

The former Knicks forward may have had a rough start to his Minnesota story. However, since the latter half of the season, things started to fall into place. He also showcased why the Wolves traded for him tonight. With Edwards hobbled, the fierce forward took charge and guided Minnesota to a dominant win.

Randle flirted with a triple-double, producing 24 points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists in the Game 2 win against the Warriors. He managed the offense with precision as the Wolves shot 50.6% from the floor. The bench trio of Naz Reid, DiVincenzo, and Alexander-Walker combined for 40 points in their victory.

But just as many would have expected, the Wolves’ team defense locked down the Warriors without Stephen Curry’s shooting prowess. The Bay only made nine threes, their lowest mark since March 25. Additionally, they held Jimmy Butler to just 17 points, forcing the Warriors to find another pivot.

Unfortunately, while Jonathan Kuminga did have a breakthrough night with 18 points, nobody else could match the Randle-Edwards tandem. And even as the series shifts to the road, the Timberwolves will have a spring in their step. Minnesota holds the cards with Curry missing.

They have the opportunity to take the tie by its neck during their trip to San Francisco. And it all falls onto Anthony Edwards and Randle’s shoulders to potentially usher the Timberwolves to yet another Western Conference Finals.
