After 25 long, humbling, and frustrating years, the New York Knicks are back at the top! This one is for all the New York faithful who’ve spent their hard-earned money season after season with the hope that one day they’ll see their team in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Knicks took care of business this season, as they got the better of the defending champions Boston Celtics in six games. The players are not satisfied, though, as their goal isn’t just the Conference Finals; it is the Larry O’Brien trophy. As for the fans, they’ve already started the celebrations.

All the stars were out on Friday as the Knicks hosted the Celtics for a high-intensity Game 6. Their aim was clear: to close out the series. The result? New York took down Boston 119-81 to advance to the Conference Finals. As soon as the final buzzer went off, the entire Madison Square Garden erupted, including all the stars present to watch their favorite team win. There were plenty of stars in the crowd cheering for the Knicks, but the one on whom everyone had their eyes was Timothée Chalamet. The die-hard New York fan and actor was present in the stands throughout the series.

After witnessing the historic win, the rowdy Knicks fans started chanting “Knicks in 6”, a slogan that took over the streets of Manhattan. Chalamet was the man of the people! The Dune star rolled his windows and was quickly taken over by the Knicks faithful. He was seen in clips that took over the internet, celebrating with the people of New York. Well, the reaction itself was not very surprising given how much of a fan of the Knicks Timothée Chalamet is, and it was good to see him celebrate with the people on the streets. However, not all celebrities were so well received by the people of the City.

After this iconic win, most of New York celebrated like they did in 2000, which was wholesome to see. But one fan might have crossed the line. In what has now become a viral clip on social media, a fan is seen confronting ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst. “How do you feel about Boston losing?” The Fan asked Windhorst. As soon as the analyst tried to reply, he cut him off, screaming, “I don’t give a f—! Knicks in 6, p—-!” Although the Knicks fan was out of pocket, Windhorst handled the situation with class, as he kept walking with a smile. That was smart on his part, as things could’ve gone south had he said something.

Jalen Brunson Makes a Cheeky Remark After New York’s Win Over Boston

The last time the New York Knicks were in the Eastern Conference Finals, it was a long, long time ago. However, one thing was common in both their Conference Finals runs. What might you ask? Apart from the fact that they faced the Indiana Pacers back in 2000, which is the same as this season. The Knicks were led by a Brunson. Jalen Brunson might have been just three years old back then, but his father, Rick, was the one who was on the court 25 years ago. Now, his son has achieved the same feat, that too, in some fashion, by knocking out the defending champions, the Boston Celtics.

With the opportunity to close out the series in front of their home fans at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks showed up. Jalen Brunson led the charge as always, as he scored 23 points along with six assists and six rebounds. After the game, the Knicks’ point guard, who’s been the team’s hero in the postseason, was hyped up and rightly so. While talking to the reporter, he made a cheeky remark. “I mean, this is great. I mean the fact that we haven’t been here since my dad played or was on the team…” Brunson said, speaking about New York’s 25-year curse.

A subtle smirk took over Brunson’s face as he added, “He’s not gonna like that.” He took a subtle shot at his dad, joking about his role within the team back then. His dad wasn’t that far away as he watched his son laugh after making this remark. Rick now serves as the assistant coach for the Knicks, and was part of the New York team that made it to the Conference Finals 25 years ago. While he might not have had the impact his son has been having, he was an important member nonetheless. So, it’s nice to hear some light banter between the father and son duo.
