“Should’ve won one in Covid. I still say it’s 1-1,” Bryce James jokingly lamented after winning Sierra Canyon their first State title since 2019, after Bronny failed to do the same in his time at the high school. But all good things must come to an end. And LeBron James’ youngest son, Bryce James, is no longer in high school. Feel old yet? But as he leaves the place, his parents were not big fans of, he received a lovely message from someone close to him. 

This Thursday, Bryce James received his high school diploma from Sierra Canyon School in suburban Los Angeles. It was an emotional affair for both LeBron and Savannah James. And, as parents of teenagers typically do, they did their best to embarrass him unwittingly. But they weren’t the only ones happy for the newest member of the Arizona Wildcats. 

Gloria James, Bryce’s grandma and LeBron’s mom, penned a heartfelt message for her youngest grandson on Instagram for his high school graduation. “I had the distinct honor of attending my 2nd grandson’s Bryce Maximus’s High School graduation. I’m so very proud of you. And I wish you the very best in your future endeavors. I know that you’re going to strive and succeed to reach beyond the planets!!!! I LOVE YOU, Grammy,” she wrote. 

Bryce’s graduation comes on the heels of his taking a major stand against his parents. You see, LeBron James and his wife, Savannah, made a “parenting” call to have Bryce moved from Sierra Canyon to Campbell High School, and subsequently to Notre Dame. Why? “Because of some things that was happening at the school that we didn’t like, we kind of made him transfer in the summertime,” Bron told Steve Nash on their podcast. Now, we don’t know exactly what happened since Bron didn’t elaborate, but we do know one thing. It didn’t stick. Bryce pushed back, and ultimately, he returned to Sierra Canyon.

“He wanted to stay, and then ultimately he came to us and said he was not happy with the places that we sent him to, and he ended up going back,” said LeBron James on Mind the Game. He revealed that Bryce’s decision made him feel “humble and appreciative.” Why? Well, Bryce sticking to his guns and finishing high school while staying true to his roots assured James that both his sons were on the right path. And that may be the reason why LeBron and Savannah James couldn’t contain themselves during Bryce’s graduation ceremony.

They may be among the most famous power couples in America. But that didn’t stop LeBron and Savannah from showing up during Bryce’s graduation. And they did more than just show up. The James family made sure everyone knew how proud they were of Bryce.

For her part, Savannah James showed everyone that no matter how many diplomas he collects or points he scores, Bryce will always be her kid! “Love you more than words can explain and so excited to see what the future has for you!! I love you Stink!!” she wrote on Instagram. And that nickname? We’re not sure Bryce will enjoy having that out for the world to see. But it’s clear that Savannah simply couldn’t contain her elation. Much like her husband. 

As Bryce walked across the stage to receive his diploma, the applause was loud. But even amid all the raucous applause, LeBron stood out. He made a noise that can be best described as a mating call from an exotic bird, making everyone who heard it laugh. Even Bryce, though embarrassed, cracked a smile and shook his head as his father reveled in his son’s accomplishment.

All in all, Bryce’s graduation confirmed something we already know — the James family is super wholesome. From Gloria’s Instagram post to Savannah’s embarrassing nickname, their love for each other is apparent. And as Bryce embarks on a new journey in his life, we’re sure he’ll have the wholehearted support of his loving family in every twist and turn!
