With a trip to the Western Conference Finals up for grabs, it’s win-or-go-home time for the Thunder and Nuggets. And—shocker—the spotlight’s right back on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. MVP finalist. OKC’s engine. The guy defenses game plan for and still can’t stop. Naturally, everyone’s been refreshing injury reports asking the same thing: Is SGA suiting up?
Yeah. He’s in. No drama, no smoke screens—Mark Daigneault said he’s full go. No minutes cap either. Dude’s averaged over 30 the last two games and hasn’t missed a beat. So if you were holding out hope for some last-minute surprise? Sorry—SGA’s hooping.
The Thunder are basically at full strength. Rookie Nikola Topic is still a non-factor with the knee, but let’s be honest—he hasn’t logged a single minute yet. Everyone else is good to go. Denver? They’ve got their own headache. Aaron Gordon’s questionable with a hamstring thing. If he’s not 100%, that’s a real problem. He’s their most switchable defender and the guy you’d throw at SGA or even J-Dub in certain matchups. No AG means Jokic has to do even more. Not ideal.

Gilgeous-Alexander has been the driving force all postseason. In ten playoff games, he’s averaging 28.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists. In Game 5, he posted 31 points and 7 assists—giving the Thunder a brief edge in the series.
Shai on Game 7:

He followed it up with 32 points and 6 assists in Game 6. But Denver made adjustments—closing space on ball screens and daring OKC’s role players to beat them. The Thunder couldn’t keep pace, dropping a tight one to set up this winner-take-all Game 7. And Shai? He’s not ducking the moment. “It’s do or die,” he said. “It’s what you live for. It’s what you work your whole life for. Either your dream continues or your dream ends.”
Now, with no room for error, OKC needs another big night from its star. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has delivered all postseason. Tonight, he’ll try to do it one more time.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Shai Gilgeous-Alexander carry OKC past the Nuggets, or will Denver's adjustments prove too much?

As Game 7 approaches, the Thunder’s rotation will be under the microscope. With postseason minutes trending upward and short-term injuries testing availability, here’s how the lineup is projected:

POSITION | STARTER | 2nd UNIT | 3rd UNIT |
PG | Shai Gilgeous-Alexander | Cason Wallace | Ajay Mitchell |
SG | Luguentz Dort | Alex Caruso | Cason Wallace |
SF | Jalen Williams | Isaiah Joe | Aaron Wiggins |
PF | Chet Holmgren | Aaron Wiggins | Jalen Williams |
C | Isaiah Hartenstein | Jaylin Williams | Chet Holmgren |
The Thunder’s starting five? No surprises—still steady, still tough. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren are holding it down on both ends. SGA’s the engine, doing MVP things on a nightly basis, while Chet’s spacing the floor on one end and swatting shots on the other like it’s nothing.
Jalen Williams and Lu Dort keep bringing that two-way juice. J-Dub gives them that smooth creation and midrange polish, and Dort’s the defensive bulldog who somehow finds timely buckets when they matter most. Isaiah Hartenstein, the midseason add, doesn’t get flashy, but the man brings size, rebounding, and grown-man screens—the kind of dirty work this young squad needed.

Off the bench, it’s been a bit more up and down. Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe are the most trustworthy options—good shooting, smart cuts, competent defense. But let’s be honest: the second unit hasn’t exactly been a pillar of stability this series. That matters in Game 7. Especially with Nikola Topić still in street clothes, the Thunder are probably leaning on extended run from Cason Wallace and rookie Ajay Mitchell. That’s asking a lot under this kind of pressure.
And look, everything still runs through Shai. He’s cleared to go and has been huge all postseason—scoring, creating, calming the storm when things get dicey. But if OKC wants to actually close this thing out against a seasoned Nuggets squad, it can’t just be the Shai Show. They need everybody locked in. No coasting, no hero ball. Full-team effort or it’s a long offseason.
