The Golden State Warriors did it again! With the win in Game 7 against the Houston Rockets in Game 7, they are now 5-0 against them in Playoff series during the Stephen Curry era. But more importantly, they made it to the 2nd round of the Playoffs. And here’s where the real test for the Dubs begins. They will face Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves next.

And if we know anything, it’s that facing a team that got LeBron and Luka out of there in 5 games will not be easy. So, Steph and Co. will need to be at their best – physically and mentally, to take on the T-Wolves. Here’s what the injury report says about their status as far as the 4x champ is concerned.

Golden State Warriors Injury Report – Will Stephen Curry play tonight?

If the NBA were a gauntlet, Steph Curry’s 2024–25 campaign would be the final boss fight. For most of the season, he had barely any help on the court while playing through injuries. Well, Jimmy Butler’s joining fixed the former. Sadly, nothing has changed as far as the latter is concerned.

Stephen Curry still has the thumb injury. And he’s still on the Dubs’ injury report. But before you fall into despair, Dub Nation, you should know one thing. Steph Curry is listed as AVAILABLE on the report. So he’ll continue to play with a splint on his right thumb. Like he did for the entirety of the Rockets series.

On the other hand, despite being a perennial presence on this year’s injury reports, Gary Payton II’s status has been updated. He is now QUESTIONABLE to appear in Game 1. Why? It’s the same undisclosed illness that kept him out of Game 7 against the Rockets. We’ll only find out come game time whether this illness will prevent him from the first game in the series against the Timberwolves.

But that’s it for the Warriors’ injury report. With Stephen Curry seemingly up for the challenge, this is set to be quite an interesting battle between him and Anthony Edwards. So let’s have a little preview of this matchup ahead of Game 1.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Anthony Edwards outshine Curry, or is the Warriors' playoff experience too much for the Wolves?

Have an interesting take?

Can the Warriors tame the Wolves in Game 1?

The Minnesota Timberwolves are coming off a week-long rest after getting the Lakers out of the postseason in 5 games. They will definitely be the fresher side. But the most interesting facet of this series will be the battle between Anthony Edwards and Stephen Curry.

You see, Ant-Man has developed into something of a sharpshooter this season. He led the league in 3-pointers made during the regular season with a whopping 320 made! Steph lags just behind in 3rd place with 311 (Malik Beasley takes the second place. Yeah, Beasley!). And with Ant being a natural dunk machine means he’ll be a tough nut for both Steve Kerr and the players on the court to crack.

Moreover, the Warriors’ affinity to play small-ball means there’s another player they must watch out for — Rudy Gobert. The 4x DPOY is not just an ornamental presence at the rim. No, he can own and dominate the space around it when he wants to. And Gobert showed that during Game 5 in the Lakers series. He grabbed a staggering 24 boards, never letting the Lakers settle into the game, and punishing them for every missed shot.

If the Warriors can’t keep these two in check, then this series may follow the same trajectory as the Lakers vs the Wolves. However, the Golden State has one smoking gun — Jimmy Butler. If ‘Playoff Jimmy’ shows up, then it’s a wrap for the Wolves. His decision-making, strategy, and understanding of the game, coupled with Steph’s off-the-ball movement, can cause some huge issues for the Wolves.

All in all, there are quite a few unanswered questions about both teams heading into this series. And we’ll get the answers to a few of them tonight!
