Is it truly a coincidence or something else is at play here? The 2nd game of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between NY Knicks and Boston Celtics is over. The first game left the NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes bewildered, who tweeted, “Can’t believe that shot didn’t go!” when Jalen Brunson missed a shot in the overtime. Knicks overcome a 20-point deficit just in time to enter overtime and win the game from there. But the game on Wednesday, May 7, left the fans amazed. The city also celebrated by lighting up the Empire State Building in royal blue.
In the 2nd game, the Celtics were ahead by 20 points when their power forward Kristaps Porziņģis scored off a Derrick White assist, taking the score to 70-50. Knicks ended the 3rd quarter with a 61-73 score. But 2 minutes remained in the 4th quarter when the Knicks got ahead by 87-86. In the end, they won by 91-90. It’s mind-boggling.

The losses are perplexing for the Boston Celtics’ fan base. They finished all 3 quarters with a lead of 9 points or more. But in the end, they failed to finish on the top. What makes it even more painful is choking in back-to-back games. Many fans even trolled Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum for not leading the team to a victory which was well in grabs. They also became the first team in NBA history to blow a 20 point lead in consecutive games.
With this win, the NY Knicks have now won both games in TD Graden, Boston. They are up 2-0. But how did they seal the game in the last seconds? Celtics HC made a crucial mistake.

Boston Celtics had a pending timeout. Instead, the HC decided to play on. Jayson Tatum marched with the ball but Mikal Bridges stole the ball, sealing the win. In Mazzulla’s words, “Had one [timeout] left, got a good look in the exact same play 20 seconds earlier. Tried to execute the exact same thing, they did a better job of their lower pick-up point and we weren’t able to get the advantage that we had on the last Tatum dunk.”
Whatever his thought process was, the end result has increased the pressure manifolds. If they lose the next 2 games as well, they will be out of the season. Knicks have positioned themselves in the perfect spot now. Stay tuned, as we will keep bringing more news about your favorite superstars.
