Back in 2014, LeBron James returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers with a clear goal: to win a championship with his hometown team. Indeed, he followed that through by making arguably one of the most memorable comebacks in sporting history. They overcame a behemoth 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors to stun them and lift the Larry O’Brien trophy. Many thought that this sparked the start of a dynasty in Cleveland. However, James and the Cavaliers soon suffered a massive blow in that quest as Kevin Durant made an earth-shattering move to San Francisco.

The Slim Reaper joined the Warriors in 2016, changing the power balance of the entire league. While the Cavaliers still managed to make it to their second finals in 2017, but were dominated by Steph Curry and Co., who defeated them in five games. To make things more worrying for the Cavaliers, James’ partner in crime, Kyrie Irving, then left for Boston after this disappointing defeat. Cleveland still made it to the finals in 2018, only to be humiliated by KD and the Warriors. This 4-0 sweep led to James moving to Los Angeles and marked the end of his time in Cleveland.

Keeping this in mind, a fan on X (formerly Twitter) blamed Kevin Durant for ending the Cavaliers’ dynasty even before it started. He stated Durant was the one who could’ve helped Kyrie Irving and LeBron James build something special. “Oh man @KDTrey5 f–k you bro for ruining what would have been a dynasty in Cleveland.” The fan wrote, reacting to Irving’s spectacular highlights from the 2017 playoffs. This comment soon caught KD’s attention, who is known for his social media antics. “I rejoice every morning that it didn’t happen,” Kevin Durant replied with laughing emojis, indicating that he’s happy with his decision that led to ruining what could’ve been a dynasty in Ohio.

Well, he seems to be happy seeing James in pain because his stint with the Warriors was massively successful. Durant won two NBA championships in his time with the Dubs and doesn’t regret the move. Moreover, they nearly did a three-peat, but unfortunately for KD, he ruptured his Achilles, and Klay Thompson also tore his ACL in the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors, which led to Kawhi Leonard and Co. taking the advantage and putting an end to the Warriors’ dominance. After which Durant parted ways with Golden State. While he was successful, many fans believe that he didn’t do it on his own and just joined an already spectacular team.

Kevin Durant makes a brutal Stephen Curry confession

Kevin Durant never shies away from his critics, and we all know that. He gave a firm reply to the Cavaliers fan on Friday. However, the conversation did not just end here. As we know, Kevin Durant’s success with the Warriors is heavily shadowed by the fact that he joined a team that already had everything. Indeed, there’s no doubt about it. The Warriors had a historic 73-9 season and were already one of, if not the best, team in the NBA. This has led many fans and experts to share the same opinion. That is, KD did not have much contribution to the team’s back-to-back championships.

A fan pointed out the same while Durant was cooking on social media on Friday. “Good I Never loved the spotlight anyway. Always just wanted money, buckets and girls.KD wrote while replying to a fan, who said that his legacy will always be overshadowed by one name: Stephen Curry. Well, he did join a team missing no pieces whatsoever, but you have to give credit where credit is due. KD did a phenomenal job of meshing in with Curry and Co. in San Francisco. While he might have hurt his legacy a bit by making the move to the Warriors, he did win two championships, which is really the bottom line.

Moreover, no one can ever deny that Kevin Durant is one of the most skillful seven-footers in the history of the NBA. One could even say that Durant is the forerunner of seven-foot players with guard-like skills and a killer outside shot. It also makes you think that people would have a different perspective about KD’s time in the Bay Area had he not gotten injured in the 2019 NBA Finals. That injury caused him to miss the entire 2018-19 season and over 100 games in the next three campaigns. Well, we’ll never get to know that truly. Nonetheless, Durant deserves a bit more praise for his time with the Warriors
