LeBron James has always been vocal about his opinions, especially about basketball. He’s always taken a stand against coverage of the game that talks less about the sport and more about the drama surrounding it. This made him launch his very own podcast, which is meant to be strictly about hoops, named ‘Mind the Game.‘ The podcast premiered with LeBron James as the co-host alongside JJ Redick and quickly gained traction among fans. However, soon, Redick was named as the head coach of the LA Lakers. This meant he was no longer able to continue podcasting and left after just nine episodes. This marked an abrupt end to the first season, however, James wasn’t done.
This year, in March, the 40-year-old veteran announced the relaunch of the fan-favorite podcast with a new co-host. Two-time MVP and NBA legend Steve Nash was selected as the new co-host alongside King James. With two names as big as Nash and James attached to the ‘Mind the Game,‘ it once again took off! The show has been a great hit among fans, with around 703,000 people subscribed to the YouTube channel. Moreover, the channel to date has amassed around a massive 40.1 million overall views. Amid this great success, there’s more good news for Steve Nash’s future in broadcasting. The former Brooklyn Nets head coach is taking a massive step in the hoops world.
While he’s done and dusted from his duties on the court, he’ll be courtside as a broadcaster with Amazon Prime’s NBA coverage next season. This means Nash will be covering the NBA on a daily basis from the next season onwards! This is massive news for the 59-year-old who’s taking big strides in the broadcasting space. This comes as a result of the NBA’s newly inked, lucrative 11-year, roughly $76 billion TV deal with Disney (ABC and ESPN), Comcast (NBA and Peacock), and Amazon. Prime launches Year 1 of its NBA coverage as part of its deal with the league, worth around $20 billion over the next 11 years.

While Adam Silver’s massive plan brings great news for Steve Nash, this puts a massive question mark over his future with LeBron James. With him joining Amazon Prime’s coverage team from next season, the future of the ‘Mind the Game‘ podcast remains in the air. Just three episodes have been aired in season 2 of the podcast so far. Indeed, there might be a few more in the pipeline, but will Steve Nash return to work with James? Well, that remains to be seen. As everyone awaits more updates on Nash’s future with the ‘Mind the Game‘, there’s some exciting news for the former NBA star, as he gears up to get courtside along with a former teammate.

Steve Nash reunites with his former teammate after inking a new deal with Amazon
Steve Nash is broadening his career in broadcasting as he’ll be joining Amazon Prime’s NBA coverage next season. According to NBA Insider Marc Stein, he will be joining former teammate and close friend, Dirk Nowitzki, the Dallas Mavericks legend and Hall of Famer. This is massive news for the NBA broadcasting as the two will be reuniting after around two decades. The two were teammates from 1999 to 2004. Nash spent in first couple of seasons in Arizona suiting up for the Phoenix Suns, until he was traded to the Mavs in 1998.

What’s your perspective on:
Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki back together—will their chemistry translate to broadcasting success?
Have an interesting take?
Nowitzki was Dallas’ first pick in that year, going ninth overall. Nash enjoyed his best season with the Suns, but the foundation of his career was built alongside Nowitzki on the Mavericks. The two have a great relationship both on and off the court, and it will be great to see them back together, even if it’s not to scare the opposition’s defense. They will join the long list of stars joining Prime. This includes the likes of Taylor Rooks and former All-Star Blake Griffin. This isn’t it! Amazon have also added Stan Van Gundy along with Ian Eagle, who has already been named streamer’s No. 1 play-by-play announcer.

There are also speculations about Richard Jefferson, Kevin Harlan, Michael Grady, and Dwayne Wade joining their star-studded lineup. Overall, it’s great to see Nash become prevalent in basketball once again, as Prime’s deal with the NBA encompasses exclusive rights to 66 regular season contests, the NBA Cup, and a few more annual games. This also puts all the rumors about him heading back to coaching, as he was a ‘sleeper’ candidate to take over the Suns. All the best to Steve Nash for his new endeavor as we monitor his partnership with LeBron James.
