Is there anything left for Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee? First, he had to say goodbye to his friend Khris Middleton. He then watched helplessly as Damian Lillard nearly had his season ended by DVT before making a miraculous recovery. This was followed by his season actually ending due to a torn Achilles in Game 4 against the Pacers. So, if teams come calling for Giannis this summer, would he turn them down? Well, a few franchises are ready to do just that, and the Milwaukee Bucks seem to have made their decision after the Pacers series.

NBA Insider Chris Haynes recently explained what the prevailing sentiment was in Milwaukee during the first round. “This is going to be a pivotal playoff…If they don’t get to the Finals, win the Finals, or even make a deep run, you can probably see some wholesale changes going on in Milwaukee.” And after the crushing loss, those changes may include the trade of the Bucks’ best player in a bid to rebuild the roster from scratch. And when it comes to potential locations for Giannis, ex-Grizzlies executive and senior NBA writer for The Athletic, John Hollinger, has 4 teams in mind.

According to Hollinger’s report, the Bucks may be open to trading Giannis after yet another early Playoffs exit. And he believes the San Antonio Spurs could be among the frontrunners to trade for Giannis. The $3.85 billion club may be preparing a bid to pair the Greek Freak with Wemby, which in itself is a tantalizing proposition.

But how will Spurs build one of the most ridiculously stacked teams ever? Well, they’ll need to sacrifice the 2025 Most Improved Player in the NBA. Yes, it seems the Spurs’ plan is “centered around Stephon Castle, multiple lotto picks.” The Spurs have two 2025 lottery picks — their own and Atlanta’s. They’ve also got veterans they can offload to match Giannis’ massive salary.

But the main attraction remains the pairing of Wemby and Giannis. Two of the most physically dominant players in the NBA, on the same team. Super-duo narrative aside, having them on the same team alongside De’Aaron Fox and CP3 may make the Spurs genuinely unplayable. They will have a mix of experience and talent like no other team in the NBA.

However, we can’t get carried away. That’s because Hollinger revealed that 3 other teams could realistically get Giannis to put pen to paper this summer.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Giannis Antetokounmpo's time in Milwaukee over, or can the Bucks still build around him?

Here are the 3 other clubs who could land Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to Insider John Hollinger

Hollinger believes the Houston Rockets, with unprotected 1st picks in 2027 and 2029 and a 2025 lottery pick, can be a potential destination for the Greek Freak. Not to mention, they’re building a Giannis clone in Amen Thompson. Giannis would be an amazing, experienced addition to the Rockets’ young core. And they’ll instantly become title contenders if they land the dominant forward.

But if not them, perhaps Giannis could stay on the East Coast and join the Brooklyn Nets. They’ve got a massive draft haul. Four firsts in 2025, plus future unprotected picks/swaps (Suns ’28 swap, Knicks picks, own picks). Moreover, they’ve got enough cap space to absorb some Bucks players’ contracts, such as Kyle Kuzma. And that would allow Milwaukee to pursue a superstar if Giannis leaves.

Finally, Hollinger also thinks the Greek Freak could call the Six his new home. The Toronto Raptors may be up to the task of signing him. President of the Raptors, Masai Ujiri, has always wanted Giannis on his roster. And with the job he did building a team around Kawhi Leonard in 2019, he can build a darn good franchise. You see, as things stand, everyone has an equal chance of signing Giannis.

And Giannis himself neither confirmed nor denied any rumors. So, do take these reports with a grain of salt. Even if they come from someone as seasoned and reliable as John Hollinger. But rest assured, we’ll be there to bring you any and all developments with this trade saga!
