The Golden State Warriors are one quarter away from being eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Going on the road, the team was hopeful to extend the tie and hopefully give Stephen Curry a chance to fight. What’s transpired, though is a night of errors in Game 5 against the Timberwolves. Likewise, no one is happy. Even the often composed Steve Kerr lost his cool.

During one of the possessions, Brandin Podziemski recklessly turned the ball over to the Wolves. So during the timeout, Kerr was livid. The announcers described it as an “emphatic” conversation. But truth be told, it was rage over the Warriors’ poor display in the game for their survival.

“He was very, very upset on the turnover. When he got up in the air, and turned it over. Rarely actually see Steve Kerr explode like he did on that turnover. Very very upset… He was not the least bit happy with that play,” Van Gundy said about the legendary NBA coach.

Although Podziemski did make an error, the sophomore guard has been the most productive player for the Warriors thus far. He’s scored 21 points to go with 4 assists and two steals. Podziemski is also the only Warriors starter to have hit multiple threes in the game. Despite all of that, Kerr didn’t keep room for excuses.

Right after his turnover, he subbed in Pat Spencer, a fringe player in general, to have a conversation with Podziemski. It goes to show how deeply Kerr wants to keep the series alive. Maybe Stephen Curry is close to suiting up again. Even if not, maybe the obsessive competitor just wants to win.

But with how the Warriors have played so far, those possibilities are looking bleak.

The Warriors are crumpling out of the playoffs

After two fairly close games against the Warriors, the Minnesota Timberwolves have outplayed their opponents tonight. Their desperation to close out the series on their home floor is evident. Defensively, the Anthony Edwards-led side has been active, hounding the Warriors before they look to score.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Steve Kerr's rare outburst a sign of deeper issues within the Warriors' camp?

Have an interesting take?

Almost halfway through the fourth quarter, the Warriors are shooting just 29.4% from three. The Wolves’ athletic personnel have limited Jimmy Butler to just 14 points. Obviously, the Bay have also made errors throughout the night, putting them into a tricky position chasing a 20-point deficit.

As for the Timberwolves, they may have made a few errors. But they have done far good than bad.

Both Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle have once again carved up the Warriors’ defensive integrity. Combining for 42 points thus far, it’s been more than enough to neutralize the Warriors thus far. But even as a team, the Wolves are shooting 60.6% from the field as they head towards their second straight conference finals.

Anthony Edwards is pulsating to take the next step after their loss in the WCF last season. On the other hand, Stephen Curry’s season could end in an unceremonious fashion. It could end without him even getting an opportunity to compete. That is unless Steve Kerr and will the Warriors to making an astonishing comeback in the final minutes.
