Anthony Edwards is injured. I repeat, Anthony Edwards is injured!!! The faces inside Target Center said it all when Ant went down in a heap with a pain-stricken grimace. Immediate sirens of concern went out on the Timberwolves bench midway through the second quarter as the star rolled on the floor, visibly in pain. Soon, he was helped off the court and taken to the locker room. A little later, an update came in, and it wasn’t great news for fans.

The Wolves were in control with a 37-19 lead when things took a tough turn.

Anthony Edwards went full throttle, slicing through three Warriors defenders with an acrobatic drive and looking to cap it with a right-handed layup. But Trayce Jackson-Davis had other plans—meeting him at the summit with a thunderous block that sent the ball flying and Edwards crashing to the floor.

Then came the nightmare moment. At 245 pounds, TJD landed straight on Edwards’ left ankle—the same ankle he’d injured in Game 1. Edwards instantly clutched it in pain, unable to rise. He’d already been playing through discomfort, managing it with ice and sheer will, but this time, the pain was different.
Chris Finch had to burn a timeout, and as Ant was helped off the floor without putting weight on it.

As Ant was helped off the court, unable to put any weight on it, even Stephen Curry—hobbling and sidelined himself—sat on the bench with a reported sad, forlorn expression” on his face. The building had gone silent. And in that moment, it wasn’t just Wolves fans holding their breath—it was the entire NBA world.

Word out of the locker room is that there’s still some uncertainty about whether Anthony Edwards will hit the court tonight. “Guys, quick word on Anthony Edwards’ left ankle sprain,” TNT reporter Lauren Jbara was quick to deliver the news. “He is questionable to return to tonight’s game. Alright.”

But don’t worry, fortunately for the Timberwolves, that injury didn’t stop Anthony Edwards.

Anthony Edwards returned to the game with a bang

Yes, within just a couple of minutes, Anthony Edwards was back on the floor, warming up like nothing had happened. Timberwolves Insider Andrew Dukowitz perfectly summed up the sentiment of the courtside fans, stating on his X post, “He is immortal.” And judging by the intensity of his warm-ups, it was clear that Ant was ready to bring it against a Stephen Curry-less Warriors squad.

Charles Barkley, watching it all unfold live on TNT, couldn’t hold back. Well, the question’s answered, America,” he said. That man is coming back right there.”

Suddenly, the energy shifted. The arena stirred. What looked like a crushing moment turned into something defiant—Ant wasn’t done yet, and Barkley knew it.

But if that wasn’t enough, Edwards quickly showed when the game was resumed by stepping up and putting numbers on the scoreboard to push the Timberwolves forward.

Edwards just missed a double-double by a hair. But his impact on the game? It was undeniable. He led with a strong 20-9-5 stat line, helping the Timberwolves crush the Warriors in a dominant 117-93 victory. And just like they hoped — the series is now all tied up. Meanwhile, Stephen Curry could only watch his team struggle from the sidelines, with a strained hamstring. There was nothing he could do but watch Ant take over.

The Timberwolves grabbed the lead early in the opening quarter and never looked back. Jimmy Butler and Co. gave it their all, but that wasn’t enough to cut the deficit.

Now, all the Warriors can do is face the reality and look for ways to bounce back. Whether Steph Curry will be able to step in next game or stay on the sidelines is still uncertain. What is certain, though, is that this team has problems to solve and fast. What did you think of Game 2 in this second-round battle? Let us know in the comments below!
