The newsroom antics can get as heated as on-court rivalries. More often than not, co-hosts are in disagreement with each other. The tension escalates from sports discussions to personal jibes. This has recently been happening with the former and current ESPN sports commentators. The popular talk show “First Take” is transitioning with new co-host Sharpe Shannon alongside Stephen A. Smith.

Days after Stephen Smith took on his former colleague Max Kellerman, Sharpe has now joined in to hit back at his former colleague Skip Bayless. They had a long collaboration on the show “Undisputed”.

Max Kellerman was removed from the show in 2021. After years, Stephen A. dug up his strained relationship with him. They had a long collaboration on “First Take” from 2016 to 2021. Smith outrightly said that he didn’t like working with him

Smith also felt the show had become stale. He believed their partnership was no longer beneficial. He even recommended to ESPN executives that only one of them should continue with the show.

On the other hand, Sharpe found himself facing personal attacks from his co-host Bayless. Despite being a 3 time Super Bowl champion, he was compared with Tom Brady by Skip. He made a personal remark that Brady, who is 45 YO, is still at the top of the game and Shannon’s career ended at 35. Shannon found it disrespectful and opened up about it with Stephen Smith in “The Stephen A. Smith Show”.

He hit back at him saying, Why would I be jealous of Tom Brady? Tom was like me, given an opportunity. He made the most of that opportunity”. He continued lashing at him, saying, “It took a lot of it from me not to put my hands on him. It actually did”.

These personal dynamics that are beyond the scenes of the game can be a little tiring after a while. While disagreements are part of any working relationship, it’s essential for professionals to maintain respect and avoid bringing any personal jibes. Especially when it is the game that gives more thrill to the fans.
