Smith also felt the show had become stale. He believed their partnership was no longer beneficial. He even recommended to ESPN executives that only one of them should continue with the show.

On the other hand, Sharpe found himself facing personal attacks from his co-host Bayless. Despite being a 3 time Super Bowl champion, he was compared with Tom Brady by Skip. He made a personal remark that Brady, who is 45 YO, is still at the top of the game and Shannon’s career ended at 35. Shannon found it disrespectful and opened up about it with Stephen Smith in “The Stephen A. Smith Show”.

He hit back at him saying, Why would I be jealous of Tom Brady? Tom was like me, given an opportunity. He made the most of that opportunity”. He continued lashing at him, saying, “It took a lot of it from me not to put my hands on him. It actually did”.
