A few hours ago, comedians Charlamagne tha God and Andrew Schulz released another episode of their comedy podcast ‘Brilliant Idiots’. During the episode, the duo focused their attention on discussing the new podcast featuring LeBron James and former NBA player JJ Redick. Of course, something was bound to come up regarding it. Since the time Bron launched his podcast, Mind the Game’, reviews have been pouring in. And the Brilliant Idiots duo definitely took a shot toward Bron’s co-host.

Charlamagne highlighted an Instagram post by activist Dr Umar Johnson, in which the latter criticized the 39-year-old over his decision to go “outside our community” and not do the podcast with someone like Shannon Sharpe. Johnson further wrote, “This move makes no sense at all. What has this man (Redick) done for you or us to earn this opportunity?”. The millionaire comedian provided his own two cents on the matter. Given that the ‘Mind the Game’ podcast is based around the duo discussing the various aspects of basketball, the host felt that there is no one better equipped to be LeBron’s partner than the former Clippers shooting guard.

“If LeBron James was going to start a podcast, strictly about basketball, there is nobody I would want to see him do that with more than JJ Redick,” said Charlamagne. “Him and LeBron…. even when you listen to them talk, they break that sh*t down”.

Andrew Schulz agreed with his co-host’s opinion, stating that LeBron’s podcast was in no way trying to appeal to the “casual basketball fan”. Rather than criticizing the four-time NBA champion’s choice of a co-host, the duo highlighted their appreciation of just how detailed the discussion between LeBron and Redick was. “That podcast is literally a podcast for basketball savants, people who are studying the game”, Charlamagne continued. “There’s nobody I would want to hear LeBron sit down and have a conversation with about more, like literally nobody”.

Cam’Ron wanted Chris Paul as LeBron James’ co-host, not JJ Redick

It’s been almost four days since LeBron James and JJ Redick launched the first episode of their ‘Mind the Game’ podcast. Since then, the full episode has received over 2.6 million views on YouTube, and the official channel has also gained over 326,000 subscribers. Many people chose the same path as Charlamagne and Andrew Schulz in praising the episode. Others didn’t hesitate to make their dissatisfaction with JJ Redick known. Amongst those people was renowned rapper Cam’Ron.

During a not-so-recent episode of ‘Come and Talk 2 Me’, Cam’Ron discussed Redick as co-host by stating, “It kind of shocked me that LeBron could pick anybody in the world”. While the rapper stated his appreciation for Redick, he also expressed his belief that the position should have been given to someone with a higher “basketball IQ”. Cam’ron’s co-host Mase then proceeded to highlight Chris Paul as an option, stating “That’s his buddy, and JJ Redick’s IQ is not higher than Chris Paul’s”. It didn’t take long for Cam’Ron to respond: “That’s a great point. It isn’t like JJ Redick has championship experience either”.
