Minnesota Timberwolves star man, Anthony Edwards, concluded the All-Star Game last Sunday in fine fashion. He helped Team USA Stars outplay LeBron James and Team USA Stripes, while winning the All-Star MVP title. This comes after many fans tipped Team World, featuring the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, to go the distance. While this outcome left a few folks puzzled, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul was not surprised.

Paul was on the latest segment of Game Over, along with co-host Max Kellerman, earlier this week. The two started the podcast by discussing which player comes to mind when you think of ‘the face of the league’.

Paul was quick to give his two cents, highlighting ‘Ant-Man’ as the one who currently comes closest to that title.

“I still think it’s a community, but I think that community is led by Anthony Edwards. I think Anthony Edwards is the best player in our league today…As far as the face of the league versus best player…The face of the league—that you have to grow into that. That’s something different. But best player? Yes, he is the best player,” Paul said on the show.

Paul’s diplomatic response did not entirely convince Kellerman, so he pushed him to elaborate.

“Because you can’t watch a game on any given night against anybody and look at that game and say, ‘Oh, that person is better than Anthony Edwards’….If you say I’m taking Jokić, I’ll say, okay, give me Anthony Edwards…He plays both sides of the ball. Right? He’s the ultimate competitor. He—I mean, the guy plays through—it reminds me a lot of LJ, that, you know, he played through injuries that most guys sit three, four games for,” Paul added.

In 46 games this year for the Wolves, Ant has 29.3 PPG, 5.2 RPG and 3.7 APG. With a FG% of 49.3 and a FG3% 40.2, Edwards is putting up consistent numbers that add credibility to Paul’s argument. He posted a season high of 55 pts in the 123-126 loss to Victor Wembanyama-led San Antonio Spurs. Ant also had four assists and two rebounds, scoring nine three-pointers as he almost single-handedly battled Wemby and Co. with some help from Jaden McDaniels and Donte DiVincenzo.

Not to mention his elite durability in the modern NBA era. Since making his league debut at the age of 19 in 2020, Ant has played at least 70 games (excluding postseason) over the last five campaigns. His competitive edge is second to none, earning him comparisons to the legendary Michael Jordan.

Anthony Edwards vs Nikola Jokic – What do the numbers say?

Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic, Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Doncic, and, of course, San Antonio’s Victor ‘The Alien’ Wembanyama are some of the other names that come up when we talk about the ‘best in the league’. But when we compare Jokic and Edwards over their last two campaigns, we get a more objective answer as to who’s better.

Both players have elevated their game in recent years. Jokic is dominating as a triple-double machine while Ant is emerging as an elite scorer. In 39 games this campaign, the three-time NBA MVP is averaging 28.7 points per game, which is a bit lower than Ant’s tally at this point in the season.

However, Jokic leads by a massive margin in rebounds and assists over the last two campaigns (12.3 RPG and 10.7 APG in 2025-26), reasserting his dominance. In fact, it was Edwards himself who said Jokic was in a league of his own two years ago, when the Nuggets decimated their playoff opponents one after the other to win their first-ever NBA Championship.

Ultimately, the stats declare Jokic as the superior player right now, thriving as a perennial MVP contender despite turning 31. Ant, at 25, is closing ground rapidly and could challenge for supremacy with playoff breakthroughs—but as it stands, the Joker’s numbers reign supreme.
