There’s a lot more to celebrate in the Curry residence as Ayesha Curry steps into a new role. After establishing herself as a chef with her YouTube show, a successful entrepreneur with her wine business, and taking on various other roles, she has now become a publisher with her new book just released. While Ayesha continues to expand her empire, one might wonder if Mama Curry is missing out on her kids, as Ayesha didn’t seem worried when revealing her elder daughter’s new addiction.

The topic came up on Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show when Ayesha and Trisha Tobias, the author of her new novel Honeysuckle & Bone, were discussing the book. The host suddenly asked if Ayesha and Stephen Curry’s eldest child, Riley, were reading the new book. “When she was freshly 12 um I was like ‘not yet,'” Ayesha said as the book is for young adults which ranges from 12-18 years of age. “So you have to gauge your 12-year-olds,” the 35-year-old advised all mothers.
Talking about what Riley is hooked on, Ayesha said, “Now she’s 12 and a half and she’s watching all of the like the Gossip Girls and the horror things on TV.” Ayesha also shared her reaction, saying, “I’m like ‘oh girl you’re ready.'”

The popular 2007 drama series, starring Blake Lively, is a story about a blogger using the pseudonym Gossip Girl to track a group of rich high schoolers in Manhattan and spilling details of their private and social lives to others. The series ran for six seasons and grossed $32 million.
However, Ayesha doesn’t mind her daughter watching it, as Riley has come of the right age to be allowed to watch it. But Ayesha also wants Riley to read the book featured by her Sweet July Books imprint and she had solid justification for it.

“She’s at that stage where you know reading she’s not all there,” Ayesha disclosed on the show. “Because there’s so much school work… and so I feel like this is going to reignite her love for reading and I can’t wait to see it.”

Reading novels is a great way to inspire a young mind, especially if the book is published by one’s own mother. That’s a feeling like no other. While Lively’s show holds a special place in Riley’s heart, Ayesha’s book will be equally important once she reads it. So, Mama Curry is eagerly waiting for the day when her daughter grows the habit of reading.
