Derrick White channeled his inner Ryan Gosling to take down the Utah Jazz. The Boston Celtics star produced a magnificent comeback late in the game to decimate the home side. Following the game, White’s teammate, Luke Kornet, dropped a perfect comparison for the 29-year-old guard’s effort to take the win against the Jazz.

During the post-game interview, Kornet intervened and shared his thoughts on White’s performance. He compared White to Ryan Gosling from the movie La La Land. The Celtics center said, “I hadn’t seen Derrick White kill jazz like that since Ryan Gosling in La La Land. He was shooting every shot. It was awesome.” However, by the end of the interview, White disappointed the interviewer, saying that he hadn’t watched the film.

The 2016 film is a 6x Oscar Award-winning film directed by Damien Chazelle. It’s a musical love story between a passionate Jazz player and a struggling actress. As good as the film gets, it all comes down to the famous performance in the climax. Ryan Gosling, who donned the role of Sebastian, pulls out an iconic performance at “Seb’s” in front of Mia (Emma Stone), who returned to LA after 5 years with her husband. And the scene slowly transitions into the dream montage.

Similarly, Derrick White’s performance tonight was nothing short of Gosling’s performance as the Jazz pianist in the climax. Despite the Celtics’ thunderous performance in the first half, the home side cut down the lead to 2 points. However, the visitors didn’t let the Jazz gain momentum, as they went on a 20-0 run to seal a comfortable 123-107 win.

While White admitted that he hadn’t watched La La Land, he revealed that he watched Gosling’s recent global sensational flick, Barbie.
