Both teams came into the game after a tough loss. Now, as both teams check off their pre-All-Star schedule, the Raptors will play the Brooklyn Nets and Indiana will face off against the Detroit Pistons.
Why did the Raptors trade Pascal Siakam?
While teams typically prefer retaining assets from championship-winning squads, the Raptors made an emotional move by trading their last such piece to the Pacers. Pascal’s recent return stirred deep emotions among fans, reflecting the permanent place he had carved for himself through hard work, determination, and perseverance over the years. Despite Siakam’s desire to finish his playing days with the franchise, President of the Toronto Raptors, Masai Ujiri, justified the trade as a response to the potential need for a culture change within the organization. After the 2019 championship, Toronto has missed the postseason twice, a significant concern for Ujiri.
