James Harden Reminisces “Thunder Up” Days After Witnessing Young OKC Core Wreak Havoc Against Clippers: “It’s Beautiful”

The Clippers’ nine-game winning streak came to a sudden halt in the most stunning of circumstances as Oklahoma City demolished the Lakers 134-115. Without Kawhi Leonard (who had suffered a left hip contusion in their previous night’s win) the Clippers lost for the first time in an otherwise perfect month. Talismanic scorer James Harden carried the torch with 23 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and three turnovers.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Facing their third game in a wearying four-day span, the Clippers dug themselves a 12-point hole midway through the opening quarter and were looking at an even steeper gulch early in the second.

Recalling the experience, Harden likens that same resourcefulness of the Thunder’s young guns to what it was like when he first arrived. “It reminds me of when I was here, the beginning of the Thunder Up days.” Harden says.And it’s beautiful. It’s been a long time as far as the rebuilding process but I think it’s exciting and these fans deserve some good basketball.”
