Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Joins Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson in Exclusive Club Amid Uncanny Hot Streak

The Oklahoma City Thunder is having quite the year right now. After not making the playoffs for the past three years, the Thunder are one of the top teams in the Western Conference. While a lot of credit should go to the Thunder’s general manager Sam Presti but it’s the players who fans are cheering for. The Thunder franchise found a great building block for the future in Chet Holmgren. But the main player who has already taken the helm is none other than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who recently joined the likes of Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson.

The Canadian All-Star has had a spectacular season and is a large contributor to the Thunder’s current standing in the West.

The Oklahoma City Thunder faced off against the New York Knicks in their most recent matchup. The Thunder were able to win the game, following Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s current ongoing hot streak. Gilgeous-Alexander was one of the first players the Thunder decided to build around after their Paul George trade, and it sure has paid off. In the Thunder’s last outing, SGA was able to join the likes of Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson. According to Thunder media member Ryan Stiles, He joins Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson as the only other players to accomplish this feat since 1973-74 when steals were officially first tracked.”

This was Gilgeous-Alexander’s 10th straight game with 25+ points and 2+ steals. A feat that has only been achieved by two other NBA legends.

Gilgeous Alexander has been having a barrage of amazing performances this month. In his last 10 games, SGA’s highest point-outing was a 43-point performance. And the lowest he scored was still a modest 25 points.

The 6’6 guard has been averaging 31.0 PPG, 6.4 APG, and 5.7 RPG so far this season on 63.6 true shooting percentage.

Thunder may have struck gold in a young core

The Oklahoma City Thunder had hit the reset button hard when Damian Lillard sent the team packing from the 2018-19 playoffs. Since then, the Thunder’s front office has accumulated numerous draft picks for the team’s future. The Thunder won the game with a 129-120 final score. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams led the way with 36 points each. Gilgeous-Alexander also had 8 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is making yet another strong case for being selected as one of the All-Stars from the Western Conference.
