Prominent sports commentator Chris Broussard and anchor Rob Parker recently released a new episode of their ‘The Odd Couple’ show. During the same, they proceeded to discuss 22-year-old player Caitlin Clark, who recently became the all-time NCAA Division I scoring leader. The duo highlighted rapper Ice Cube’s $5 Million offer to have Clark play in his ‘Big3’ basketball league. Rob Parker stated his opinion that not only is Clark “too big” to play for the ‘Big3’, she is “too big” to even consider playing for the WNBA. The 60-year-old believed that only one place is deserving enough of the college player’s talent: the NBA itself.

“The NBA right now is so ‘soft’, as for its physical play, they allow almost anyone to just take three-point shots,” said Parker. “I believe, I really do, that she could put up 3s in this man’s NBA”.

Chris Broussard didn’t take long to take the opposite stance. Stating that his opinion was in no way a “disrespect to Caitlin Clark”, the commentator used Serena Williams as an example to highlight how Clark allegedly cannot perform in accordance with the standards set by the male players of the league. “Caitlin Clark is not quick for an NBA player,” said Broussard. “Caitlin Clark is 6 feet, 154 pounds, and she is awesome but she shouldn’t even be compared to NBA players. I hate to even say but she is not good enough to play in the NBA”.

Broussard didn’t just stop there. He stated that the 22-year-old may have the potential of getting the better of a particular group of male players. That group, however, would not be made up of the best that the world of basketball would have to offer. “She could play with the old guys that aren’t in shape and they just play around, but young guys that play ball for a living, professionals, no” Broussard added.

When discussing Caitlin Clark’s place in the NBA, Chris Broussard and Rob Parker are on complete polar opposites in their opinion. The one thing that they seem to agree on, however, is that the player holds exceptional talent. Whatever path the future holds for her, Caitlin Clark sure seems destined for greater success.

Ice Cube’s $5 million offer to join the ‘Big3’ is just an indication of the reputation that Caitlin Clark has created through her exceptional performance during her college basketball career. While she may or may not take up the offer, fans know that the player’s ultimate path leads her toward the WNBA. The same was proven true a couple of weeks ago when she officially declared for the 2024 draft.

“I think I’ve known for a little while, honestly,” said Clark in a statement. “I’ve had quite a few conversations with our coaching staff, and they were always very supportive in trying to help me understand both sides and see both sides, so I think especially over the last couple of weeks, my decision has become more clear.”

During the 135 games she played for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Clark secured an average score of 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 8.2 assists. This is much higher than what two highly regarded WNBA players, Breanna Stewart and A’ja Wilson. While the WNBA is a different challenge altogether, there is very less doubt that Clark would thrive and excel when facing it.
