The San Antonio Spurs landed the first overall pick and drafted the unicorn, Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama was a player that was on every team’s radar, given his size and the skills that came along with it. However, a Rockets player seems to be overshadowing him in this statistic.

6’8 Tari Eason seems to be miles ahead of the 7’5 Victor Wembanyama in this one statistic. And Eason’s mother could not be more proud of her son overshadowing arguably the best draft prospect since LeBron James.

Tari Eason is in his second year in the league with the Houston Rockets. The 6’8 small forward has finally been getting some minutes after being drafted by the team with the 17th overall pick. The head coach’s decision to play him certainly has not gone in vain. A rare stat shows Tari Eason towering over Victor Wembanyama. Eason seems miles ahead of all the rookies in the league.

According to this stat, Tari Eason has been the best wing rim protector in the league this past year in 2023 and Eason’s mother could not be more proud. She went on to X and tweeted, “6’8 Tari Eason bro. Look at him over there!”

The Louisiana State product has turned some heads with his plays on the defensive end of the floor so far. Most recently, however, Eason was a victim of LeBron James turning the clock on him with a baseline 360 layup.

But that does not take much away from what this 22-year-old is capable of. Eason finished his first season by making the All-Rookie 2nd Team in 2023 so it may be fair to say that the ceiling is high on this Rockets forward.

Tari Eason’s numbers and minutes both have dropped if comparing it to his previous year with the Houston Rockets. However, he has not let that slow him down as he gives his best every time he steps on the floor.

This year, Eason has averaged 18.3 minutes in 11 games so far. He is averaging 6.9 PPG, 5.9 RPG, and 1.3 BPG so far in the limited minutes he has been playing.

Victor Wembanyama has been immensely impressive so far in the season. He is averaging big numbers despite the Spurs not running their offense through him. So, for Eason to be ranked way above Wembanyama surely is no small feat.
