LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller have already emerged as franchise players of the Hornets without even playing a game together yet. While Ball proved his worth over three years of service to the franchise, Miller’s promise in the 2023 Summer League excited the fans. However, the two phenomenal talents surprisingly faced flak from their own teammate, Kai Jones, in a recent thread on X.

Kai Jones has stirred up controversy throughout this week after a questionable Instagram live video had fans concerned. Following his Instagram antics, the 22-year-old has taken several digs on X at his own teammates in the past few days. Now, LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller have also not been spared the smoke.

“I’ve had a higher fg% than those guys since I came out the womb and none of them can guard me, so know your ball before you talk to the one in here MF,” wrote Jones. It was in response to a fan calling out his credibility against the two Hornets stars.

Kai Jones taking a dig at two of the franchise’s most promising talents is definitely a cause for concern. The 22-year-old has also not spared fellow big names of the team, Nick Richards and Mark Williams in his attack. In fact, even Jordan himself had to face the wrath of the Hornets forward in a bizarre statement. Now, how does Jones fare with the franchise’s management after his antics?

His Airness is not spared the smoke either

The Charlotte Hornets are no stranger to controversy. The team has dealt with several shocking incidents within a year, involving the team’s most promising stars. After Miles Bridges and James Bouknight landed themselves in trouble, Kai Jones has now followed suit. But the 22-year-old may have taken things too far lately.

Jones’ antics have put the Hornets in a tough spot, not only internally but also around the league. After taking digs at his own teammates, the 22-year-old went on to claim precedence over his team’s former owner, Michael Jordan too.

“Bro I hit middy better than mike wym” said Jones, responding to a fan who decided to question the Hornets star about his comment on Ball and Miller.

Jones has shown promise as an impressive two-way forward on the Hornets roster despite limited opportunities. However, the 22-year-old has not taken the leap that was expected of him going into Year 3. His recent actions on social media have definitely not helped his case. Given the Hornets’ efforts to return to playoff contention, a trade scenario for the 22-year-old may not be too far-fetched.
