Draymond Green’s indefinite suspension from all basketball-related activities lasted almost an entire month. After his punch on Jusuf Nurkić on the 13th of December, the NBA suspended the 4x champ. His suspension lasted 12 games, and he made his official return to the Golden State Warriors facility before their game against the Raptors yesterday. However, dealing with the fallout from his action has been much harder for Green. Before his first game back from suspension, he released an episode of “The Draymond Green Show”.
In it, he talked about various aspects of his rehabilitation and brought up Stephen A. Smith. Smith had openly criticized the Warriors organization over Green’s antics, and how it would cost them in the long run. The most common of these arguments was the fact that the NBA world criticized Steph Curry’s leadership in those times.

Stephen A. Smith lambasts Draymond Green
After his return, Green put up a solid defense for Stephen Curry after his leadership was criticized for Draymond’s actions. Green, in response to Smith’s criticism had said, “Stephen A. was like, ‘Steph [Curry] is a bad leader because Draymond did X.’ And it pissed me off, but it crushed me. This guy doesn’t give us anything to tear him down about. This guy does everything the right way, and yet he’s being torn down because of my actions? It crushed me.” Stephen A. Smith shared his rebuttal on his YouTube channel, questioning how Green misinterpreted and misunderstood him.
He played his video as he lambasted Green. “Did you hear me say that Stephen Curry was a bad leader? Did those words come out of my mouth?” he said. “Draymond Green, that is false. That is erroneous. That is not true,” he further added.
While Smith was sharply critical of Draymond Green’s understanding of his views, he took to time to make himself clear.

Stephen A. Smith comes clean on his Curry comments
Stephen A. Smith defended his position that he did not hold Stephen Curry responsible for the actions of Draymond Green. Instead, he maintained that he held the baby-faced assassin in high esteem as a sharpshooter, leader, and family man. Smith summarized by asking how LeBron James’ leadership came into question when his teammates behaved badly, and why Curry was exempt from criticism.
He went on to say he did not mean to disrespect Curry, but rather that he simply wanted to apply similar standards to all leadership figures.
