Golden State Warriors HC Steve Kerr received a technical foul 8 minutes into the game. During the Friday night clash against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Dubs went off to a shaky start with a flurry of turnovers. On top of it, a particular hard defensive foul was neglected by the refs. Around 5 minutes on the clock, Stephen Curry went down the lane with a euro step for a lay-up. And, unfortunately, he got knocked on his head by John Konchar.

While Steph was left in shock for the no-call, Kerr fumed from the sidelines. Immediately after the time-out whistle, he walked to the mid-court for a heated argument and ended up receiving a tech.

Steve Kerr has always built his reputation as one of the calmest coaches in the league. Even during the crunch situations and blow-out losses, he doesn’t emote much and keeps his calm. However, in a few instances, the coach had burst out in frustration. The outbursts were so alarming that they led to tech calls and ejections as well.

On tonight’s occasion, the no-foul call wasn’t even during the crunch time. It was only minutes into the first quarter where the Dubs were only 4 points short of the Warriors’ total. On the other hand, Stephen Curry had recently spoken about the no-calls. Following the double overtime thriller against the Lakers, Curry said that there were at least three plays involving him that had bad calls, reported Sports Illustrated. 

Importantly, whenever Curry extracts FTs, it’s lethal because he has a monumental free throw percentage of 91. Moreover, he also holds 100% FT in the 2019-20 season.

In a league dominated by size and aggression near the paint, Steph has an alternative approach. The Baby-faced Assassin makes difficult plays and relies on his shooting skills. And often the superstar gets fouled on by tall-built defenders. Sometimes, these hard fouls get overlooked.

Similarly, during a regular season game against the Milwaukee Bucks in 2022, Kerr fumed over a no-call. Wesley Mathews of the Bucks made contact during Steph’s pull-up shot from the arc. Even though he made the bucket, the superstar pleaded for the call. He was also joined by the head coach. The heated argument turned into technical foul calls on both of them.
