The Golden State Warriors were able to secure a four-game winning streak on Saturday against the Phoenix Suns. With 7/10th of a second remaining on the clock in the last quarter, the Warriors’ superstar Steph Curry sank a 3-pointer from the deep, leading the team to a close 113-112 victory. Apart from this feat, another aspect of the game that took the spotlight was the heated physical plays between Draymond Green and the Suns’ big man Jusuf Nurkic.

The two shared a court for the first time since Dray struck Jusuf in the face on December 12th, resulting in the 4X NBA Champion’s 16-game suspension. From taunting each other with the ‘too small’ gesture to engaging in a fiery exchange of words, neither Dray or Nurkic held back. After the game, both had something to say about the other, and Nurkic for one, expressed his disappointment at Dray’s failure to learn anything from the previous incident in December. However, Dray’s “GOAT” Steph wasn’t one to sit back and watch him get berated.

Draymond was just giving back the same energy

Hilariously, Draymond addressed the whole ordeal on X by sharing a clip of Steph’s post-game interview with the caption “Goat spoke,” followed by shrugging man and LOL emojis. In the clip, Steph shows his support for Dray and asserts that Nurkic was on the “wrong side of it tonight.” The Golden Boy adds that Draymond was simply trying to get back at the Suns’ center for taunting him on the court. According to Steph, the fact of the matter was that “Draymond was in his [Nurkic] head plain and simple.”

Bringing up the talk around Draymond and how everyone expected him to grow and learn from his mistakes, Steph believes that the former Defensive Player of the Year proved exactly that and that everything he did during the game was right out of the blueprint of how to play basketball “at a high level.” If anything, Steph ends with, “I loved it.”

What had Nurkic said about Draymond Green?

The heated game against Draymond must have been the last straw for Nurkic because, after the game, he told the media, “It’s sad he didn’t learn anything man. Just a matter of time, he’s gonna knock somebody else again. So take everything back what I said, you know. He don’t deserve a chance so that’s it for me.” Steph disagrees because he saw that Dray demonstrated that he had internalized the lessons he learned by being able to play a physical, aggressive game without going overboard.

Despite the on-court and off-court drama, Draymond outperformed Nurkic in the game. He dropped 15 points and contributed seven rebounds and nine assists, while Nurkic chipped in a mere six points, six rebounds, and four assists.
