The Golden State Warriors finally matched the longest winning streak they have had this season. They extended their winning streak to five on the back of highlight reel-worthy performances by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. However, what got the whole NBA world, including the Splash Brothers, talking was Draymond Green‘s wild buzzer-beating dagger three-pointer from half-court to give the Warriors an eight-point (63-55) lead at halftime.

After a rough start to the game, committing three fouls in the first six minutes, Green knew what to do with his limited minutes. With three seconds left on the clock, Green rebounded a missed Utah shot and dribbled three times before quickly launching a deep half-court jumper from the Jazz’s center-court logo.

The ball rifled through the bottom of the net as the clock hit triple zero. The Splash Brothers expressed their shock in their respective Instagram stories. Curry reposted a snippet of Green’s half-court bucket and wrote, “Cashhhhhhh!” while Thompson gushed, “Off the right tho that’s how u feel!?”

Notably, the Warriors went on to clinch a comfortable 129-107 blowout win over Utah. Klay led the team in scoring with his 26 points on 11-for-19 shooting from the field. He also grabbed 6 rebounds in the process. Meanwhile, Steph mustered up a double-double with 25 points and 10 assists, effectively converting seven of his 16 three-point attempts.

Despite early foul trouble, Green finished the game with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. They received plenty of support from their teammates, as eight other Warriors players scored in double digits.

The GSW was navigating a rough patch with a drop-off in performances from veteran stars, injuries to key players, and Green’s suspension. However, ever since Green is back in the lineup, the Dubs have seemed more cohesive as a unit. His presence helped Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga find a way to co-exist after struggling to play together previously.

Moreover, the Warriors, who had the second-worst defensive rating during Green’s suspension, now boast the second-best defensive rating in the league since Jan 27. The Warriors are 7-3 in the last game they have played with Green as their small-ball center.

Even Curry, who had seemed to lose a step in the absence of their emotional leader, has regained his footing and has been firing on all cylinders, as evident in his 25-6-10 scoreline in the team’s recent victory vs. the Jazz. While Green’s absence did affect the team’s standings, it also paved the way for young players like JK and Brandin Podziemski to shine. Although their first half did not go according to the script, the Dubs can still turn their season around if they perform at the same level every night.
