In the 6th installment of their 7-game homestand, the Golden State Warriors succumbed to the Toronto Raptors. They showcased a performance far from the winning dynasty they are. Despite Klay Thompson‘s spirited 11-point surge in the third quarter, the team’s hopes were dashed by Stephen Curry’s worst shooting night of the season. Furthermore, the absence of significant contributions from other players, allowed the Raptors to dominate throughout the game.

The Warriors collectively struggled with their shooting, managing only 45% on field goal attempts and less than 31% from beyond the arc. The shooting woes were evident from the start, as they conceded the highest points in the half, allowing the Raptors to amass 76 points.

Stephen Curry blames himself

Curry failed to score a single three-point in the game, missing all of his 9 shots. Amidst the Warriors’ season-long struggle with consistency, Stephen Curry acknowledged that concerns tend to escalate after tough losses. However, he then asserted that he could strive for greater efficiency and set early-game checkpoints for the team. Displaying confidence in his ability to bounce back, he stated, “My nature, when things get hard, is to look at what I can do better. So I’m going to stay there and respond the way I know how.”

Additionally, Steph commended Klay Thompson for leading the scoring charge. Despite inconsistency throughout the 2023 season, Thompson’s scoring kept the Warriors in the game, providing them with a chance to mount a comeback.

Warriors cannot afford another Curry slump

Struggling since the season’s commencement, the Golden State Warriors have showcased occasional glimpses of their prime. However, their essence of winning remains elusive. Stephen Curry stands as the linchpin, keeping the team within the proximity of the top 8 in the conference. Despite challenges like Draymond Green‘s absence and Klay Thompson’s struggles, Steph has constantly taken charge of the team and has propelled them through challenges. However, visible signs of wear and tear are surfacing for Curry.

The Warriors can ill-afford a Stephen Curry slump at this juncture. They currently occupy the 11th spot in the conference and trail behind promising teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns.
