Stephen Curry was off to a blistering start this season, bagging an average of 30 points and showcasing stellar efficiency as the only point guard to date to open an NBA season with nine straight games. Amassing at least six 3s in seven of the initial nine games, the ‘Golden Boy’ doesn’t seem to slow down. Even though the star guard will be turning 36 in March 2024, Steve Kerr is quick enough to realize that the player is no spring chicken.

Although the head coach now has a self-imposed mandate to keep Curry’s minutes comparatively lower than last season, the recent injury might not be good news for the franchise. Stephen Curry hurt his knee while playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. Since the player was in recovery mode, he had to miss two home games against the Wolves and Thunder on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. However, now Curry is back with his scoring spirit.

Stephen Curry spent a total of 40 minutes on the floor tonight. With 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, he fought to keep the team afloat. However, the Dubs still lost and extended their losing streak to six in a row. While the teams were running head-to-head throughout the game, the Warriors took a slight hit in the third quarter. With a 3 point lead and two seconds left on the clock, the home crowd seemed all set to celebrate a win, but ROTY hopeful Chet Holmgren’s 3 point buzzer beater sent the game into OT.

With a 123–130 in overtime, the franchise couldn’t find any luck to break free from the losing rut. This situation even attracts more concern because Curry is recording very long minutes, given his age and importance. He just returned from an injury scare, and the seeming consistent high minutes on the hardwood might overexert the player till the postseason arrives. Although Steve Kerr has taken note of this, the head coach can’t seem to fully rely on his roster without Steph on the hardwood.

The Warriors clueless without Stephen Curry

It’s now a fact that Curry is the most skilled ball-handler by far. His vertical jump, combined with the threat of his shot, allows him to access any spot that he wants to shoot from. Forcing defensive rotations and brief openings, the point guard outshines all the other players on the team. Another reason as to why the Chef is the ‘key’ player for the franchise is that, despite all the depth, the Warriors run short on offensive juice.
