For the young generation, Stephen Curry is nothing less than a superhero. Not the tallest or strongest on the basketball floor, the Chef has still created an irreplaceable legacy, famously marked by being the only unanimous MVP in the league’s history. But growing up, the 36-year-old wasn’t viewed to be the transformer that he eventually became. His journey was one of rejection and hurdles. Yet, he leaped over them and is now considered the model standard of dreaming.

He wants his story to be an inspiration to children, and Curry is doing so by stepping into the shoes of a superhero. His latest project is a children’s graphic novel, “Sports Superheroes Volume #1: Stephen Curry”. The Book dwells on his one-of-a-kind story, from being overlooked to becoming a moving force in basketball. And he hopes to instill his resilience and dauntless spirit into the coming generations.

“It’s a way to bring a real story of my journey into an imaginary world where kids can feel inspired and motivated to find whatever their skillset, their talent, their gift is. And know that there is going to be ups and downs in life. You kind of have to embrace all the lessons that you learn along the way. But hopefully this series, it starts with me but there’s going to be a lot of other athletes that are going to be able to share their stories with the next generation,” he said in an interview with the TODAY show.

Published by Penguin Workshop, the novel is designed by the words of Josh Brycel and Rick Karson, two celebrated authors. The image depiction is done by Damoin Scott and is released in partnership with Curry’s Unanimous Publishing. The book was released on August 13 and is prized at a friendly $9.99 on Amazon.

The novel is meant to be a series as clarified by Stephen Curry. The objective is not only to inspire children but also to help aid the literacy rates by encouraging reading practices. It’s a world the Warriors ace is all too familiar with.

As a father of four, Curry has probably spent years reading children’s books. At the front, they seem to be a time-spending activity for adults, a way to keep their children engaged. But the four-time NBA champion understood how such early education can shape kids’ mindsets. And so he set out on a mission to create his own interesting stories.

So after breaking the all-time three-point record and numerous other accolades, he stepped into the shoes of an author. His first book, ‘I Have a Superpower’, also revolves around his own basketball journey. The series also had a second book, ‘I Am Extraordinary’ which focuses on a young girl named Zoe who is self-conscious about her hearing aids but learns how to strive to achieve her dream of getting into her school’s soccer team.

As an initiative, Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha also began Eat. Learn. Play. The foundation targets increasing the literacy rate in Oakland by covering the three essential pillars for any child. As part of the program, they offer a wide selection of books and expert tutoring for the children and provide them with an appropriate school experience.

The Curry’s have been long invested in their mission to improve the lives of thousands of children each year. And his newest project is a small step in what is to be an extensive series.
