Jordan Poole had a hasty exit from Golden State when the Warriors unexpectedly sent him packing to the Washington Wizards for veteran Chris Paul. A pivotal figure in the Warriors’ 2022 campaign, he was heralded as the beacon that would carry the dynasty into the future. And the Warriors affirmed this by offering him a four-year, $128 million contract. However, this narrative saw a sudden shift; he was consistently delivering inconsistent performances, and his scuffle with Draymond Green was the last straw that severed his ties with the organization.

Six months later, the 24-year-old returned to the Bay Area, however, as an opponent this time around. Although the Warriors ruined his homecoming by underwhelming the Wizards with a 129-118 loss on Friday night, Stephen Curry couldn’t be happier to reunite with his estranged teammate. After the game, Stephen Curry took to Instagram to commemorate the ex-Warriors star’s return to San Francisco with a three-word message.

Jordan Poole was warmly welcomed to the Chase Center with a tribute video from his former team. Following this, the sellout crowd erupted in deafening applause during the pregame introductions. However, the most wholesome moment was when Steph and Poole held each other in a warm embrace. After the game, the Warriors’ leader took to Instagram to post the precious moments from their first meeting since the trade. The carousel of pictures included Steph and Poole laughing and embracing each other, including an in-game shot, with the caption, “Home Sweet Home…”

Was trading Jordan Poole the best course of action?

It was a bittersweet night for Poole. His current team, the Wizards, dropped to 5-23 following the loss, marking their ninth loss in the last 11 games. Additionally, although Poole scored 25 points, he struggled from the field, shooting 7-for-21 overall and 3-for-12 from beyond the arc. The crowd that was serenading him before the game quickly took to booing him every time he was on the free throw line.

This makes one wonder if moving him was the right move for the Warriors. He was erratic as a scorer last season and soon turned out to be a liability on the defense as well. He ranked fourth in the league in the number of turnovers committed, with 252 turnovers last season. His performance hasn’t improved much in Washington, either. He is averaging 17.2 points per game on 41.2% shooting from the field and is instead making headlines for his unfortunate mishaps or failed rebounds.
