The world of the NBA is intense and highly pressured. However, every once in a while, comedy sneaks into the game giving fans hilarious moments infused with positivity. One such instance erupted in the last game played between the Golden State Warriors and the Philadelphia 76ers on January 30th, 2024.

Patrick Beverley fouled Jonathan Kuminga, and before things could go sideways, Stephen Curry stepped in to de-escalate things with some lighthearted humor.

In an episode of “The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone”, the 76ers guard addressed the incident with a rather wholesome take. When asked about his multiple conversations with Curry, foul after foul, Pat Bev mentioned how far back Steph and he go – all the way to being college roommates!

To a fan without any background knowledge,  it may have seemed like “Chef Curry” employed some animated antics to troll Pat off his teammate, but there’s more than meets the eye here. In the podcast, Pat Bev clarifies that in every camp, be it the Bron Camp or the USA Team, they’ve been roommates. Coming up in college together, Stephen at Davidson and Patrick at  South Carolina, he calls Curry “bro bro“.

That’s not all. Pat Bev even mentioned how Steph is his son’s favorite player and that before a Curry game, his son would wish him luck, something he doesn’t do otherwise.

Roommates to rivals – Stephen Curry and Patrick Beverly’s matchups

The two former roommates have come face-to-face in 35 games. Steph has won 23 games against Pat’s 12 games, which includes a 6-2 record in Playoffs. Pat further mentioned in his most wholesome reaction how it’s always good to see Curry on the court considering they’ve lived out a whole lifetime “balling” alongside each other.

In their last showdown on January 30th, Warriors’ veteran Curry managed to bag a whopping 37 points with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. On the other hand, PatBev scored a total of 12 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Steph even went on to make history that night (other than his trolling, of course) by becoming the second player in NBA history to record such a line after the age of 35, with LeBron James being the other one.

The Golden State Warriors, currently placed 12th in the Western Conference, managed to bag their second win after a long losing streak with a score of 119-107 over the Philadelphia 76ers, who are fifth in the Eastern Conference.

From 19-year-olds having fun and playing ball to now a bunch of 35-year-olds still playing and having the best time, their friendship seems to have weathered every storm.
