After weeks of uncertainty, there is finally good news about Stephen Curry’s return. The 4x NBA champion did not rely on any reports; instead, the fan caught a glimpse of him. Steve Kerr revealed the reason for this move.

Fans watched Curry do his usual pregame routine for the first time since his injury on January 30. He participated in a shoot-around in front of the 18,064 faitfuls inside the Chase Center. Those who saw him erupted with joy and were hopeful over the potential return of the Warriors superstar.

“He (Steph) said yesterday he wanted to shoot on the court,” said Kerr after the loss to the Spurs. “I think it’s purposeful instead of shooting downstairs (on the practice court). I think he wants to feel the crowd and show the crowd that he wants to come back. So, that’s the hope and as we said, pregame, he’ll have another scrimmage here in the next couple of days. I think it’s tomorrow and then we’ll see how he feels after that.”

Stephen Curry finally received the medical green light to compete in a five-on-five scrimmage Tuesday afternoon. “It felt great,” Curry told ESPN after the scrimmage. “I’m checking the boxes. But with this, it’s always unpredictable because I don’t know how the knee will respond because it hasn’t responded well in the past attempts to get to this five-on-five level. I’m right where I need to be for right now and I’m hoping that it continues until the weekend.”

Another ESPN report suggested that Curry’s goal is to return on Sunday against the Houston Rockets. But if Sunday’s matchup feels early, then the next opportunity would be Tuesday against the Kings. Steph has missed 26 straight games with a knee injury, and in his absence the Warriors have gone 9-17 and slid to the 10th seed in the Western Conference.

Before the injury, Steph played in 39 games and averaged 27.2 points and 4.8 assists while shooting 39.1 percent from three before going down. The return would be meaningful for Golden State to fight from the Play-in position. But there is also another personal history on the line.

Hidden family motivation is also on the line for Stephen Curry

There are two Curry’s on the Golden State roster. Unfortunately, both of them haven’t shared the court together. Younger brother Seth Curry joined the Warriors midseason and made his season debut in mid december and played two games before being out for 40 games due to a sciatic nerve-related injury. By the time he was back, Stephen Curry was sidelined with the runner’s knee issue.

So, the younger brother wants to suit up with his elder brother. “Wanna get out there with him at least one time and experience that and put on a show for the fans,” said Seth to the media. “That’s what its all about, the team, the fans. At the end of the day, everybody want to see us out there on the court. I know that’s one of his motivating factors for getting out there.

To see us out there on the court together, but no pressure. If he gets out there and makes it happen, he makes it happen. If not, it’s not meant to be. So, that’s just how it is.”

With Stephen Curry warming up, participating in scrimmages and eyeing a return on Sunday, the two brothers suiting up together could be on the cards soon.
