Nikola Jokic is one of the best basketball players of all time. At seven-foot tall, he can bring the ball like Guard. He can make no-look passes and also detailed half-court passes. He can post up in the low-block and high-block, producing 80s-90s-like post-move finishes. The European blend of the one-legged jumpers ala Nowitzki makes his game a peculiar one. He is a throwback center with a touch of modern-day long-range shooting. This skill set has already earned him two MVPs and also a Finals MVP.

However, despite all these hooping attributes, another sport has his fancy. He is so intrigued by it, he seems to love this more than basketball itself.

A teammate catches Nikola Jokic exactly where you think he’d be

Jokic’s love for horseracing is profound. After winning the NBA Finals, the first thought that came into his mind was about his Serbian home town Sombor. Talking to the ESPN post-game analysis panel after the title-winning game against the Miami Heat, his mind raced to horseracing.

Lost in the imagination, he said, “On Sundays, I have my horseracing. I don’t know how I’m going to arrive. Thursday, late. Friday, maybe. I’m going to ask Josh (Nuggets’ owner) to give me a plane”.

After this, Jokic traveled 5,589 miles from Denver to Sombor, eager to watch the horseracing events in his hometown. He has been a huge fan since he was a child.

The amazing Center had left basketball at 12 to pursue a career in horseracing. His father’s advice prevailed, and he took up basketball again. However, the son is still as addicted to the sport if not more. He was catching yet another horseracing event featuring his horse Dream Catcher.

This time around, he was joined by his comrade of numerous battles; Aaron Gordon. A vest-wearing Jokic was simmering in the hot sun and enjoying the battle of the horses alongside his champion teammate. Braided Gordon and Jokic both wore fancy sunglasses to combat the glare of the sun.
