Superstars hyping young and coming players, be it basketball or otherwise, is one of the uniting factors within sports. Players witness raw talents in their element, largely in the absence of cameras. So, when Tennessee Titans’ JC Latham was asked to reveal the NBA players he thinks he “can get a bucket on,” the offensive lineman spewed up an insider-like Giannis Antetokounmpo story.

When told “you’re not scoring on Giannis,” JC took the challenge to a new level. Recording his take on his mobile phone, “I will get a bucket on Giannis and I met him seventh grade. He owe me my shoes.” With that, Latham claimed that Giannis Antetokounmpo approached him during his AAU stint in 2019, promising, “Hey young bull, heard you’ve been doing your thing. Imma get you a pair of shoes. Keep hooping, putting on for Milwaukee.”

However, JC then claimed that Giannis ignored him a couple of years later when Latham played alongside the Bucks’ superstar’s brother, Alex. With that, he asserts, “I gotta find a way. If I gotta dunk on him to get my shoes, Imma get my shoes.”

The 7th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft weighs 342 pounds around a 6’6 frame. Giannis Antetokounmpo is 7ft with nearly 240 pounds to his body. Moreover, JC Latham, before making strides on the court, has had an experience in dunking. “They are worried the hoops were going to get pulled down,” Matt Bergan of Milwaukee’s Memorial Catholic said when a 6’4 Latham put on a dunk clinic in 2020. If Giannis accepts the challenge, it can mark a great juncture for fans from two worlds. However, for now, the Bucks talisman’s timeline for a return to the hardwood remains a mystery.

I saw him moving around, and in my mind, I said he’s getting close,” Milwaukee Bucks‘ head coach Doc Rivers claimed when churning Giannis’ injury update in the latest interview. However, he then added, “Does that mean a day, four days? I’m not sure,” leaving the fans right back to the guessing game they have been throughout the Bucks’ playoff journey.

Rivers’ inability to give a solid deadline on the Greek Freak return poses a concerning sight. He has missed the last 7 games for the Bucks due to a calf condition. Moreover, Bucks’ Game 1 hero Damian Lillard also suffered from an ankle injury in the previous game, leaving the team out of the two stars they hoped to make a playoff run through. Now, as Indiana Pacers take a 3-1 lead in the first-round series, the Bucks are on the verge of marking another short season.
