With $3,000,000 US Open Cheque, Novak Djokovic Surpasses LeBron James’ Lakers’ Upcoming NBA Season’s Extortionate Amount

Novak Djokovic doesn’t know how to lose. Because of his massive winning tendencies, he has racked up a lot of money. He has done it in a sport where the motions don’t stop. His consistency is unmatched, and he has become a top earner in tennis after winning 24 Grand Slams. He notched his four US Open titles and the monetary floodgates opened once again. Thus, the Serb has drawn comparisons to some of the top earners in the USA.

Naturally, attention in this case shifts to billionaire LeBron James. While in terms of overall comparison and salary, LBJ stands tall, Djokovic has made a lot of noise too. His career check amount can now be compared to the team’s overall salary caps.

LeBron James remains elusive

After his US Open win, the Serb tennis phenom collected a $3 million check. After that, his total earnings through Grand Slams reached $175 million. He has earned more than $40 million than the second-place Rafael Nadal. The Grand Slam Ace has earned his laurels and with the way he is going, he may be near $200 million soon. As of now, his career $175 million valuation is more than the Lakers’ total salary bill next season.

The Lakers are going to foot a bill of around $173 million in the 2023-24 season. While Djokovic’s $175 value is around $2 million over that, the difference between 20 years of lifetime earnings and just a one-season value has to be noted. Meanwhile, LeBron James is going to earn around $47 million a year.

In the current market where Jaylen Brown is getting paid around $60 million a year, this is a bargain. However, considering his overall net worth which is way past $1 billion, he can even afford some pay cuts. For his career, he has earned over $400 million.  Djokovic’s net worth is around $240 million, which is not even a quarter of LBJ so the Lakers superstar is a business mogul.

Will LBJ add NBA’s contact big bucks to his swelling net worth soon?

LBJ’s future in the NBA is interesting. He will 40 in a couple of seasons and after averaging around 30 points and a bunch of rebounds and assists last season, he doesn’t look done. He may be aiming for another run with Anthony Davis, who signed a three-year $186 million extension with the Lakers.

LBJ clearly qualifies for such a deal. In the next free agency, he will be up for an extension and will have the choice to choose a fresh team.
