It’s been almost a week since Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic celebrated his 29 birthday. Given that this would have been the player’s last birthday before the big 30 moment, fans would have expected his teammates to show up and put out a big bash for the man who led them to a championship victory last year. But fans would be disappointed to know, nothing happened!

After a decisive win against the Warriors, the Joker was questioned by an on-court journalist about his birthday and if his teammates did gift him something. This is where Jokic decided to throw his teammates under the bus. As funny as he is, he sarcastically exclaimed, “Nothing, absolutely nothing. Bad teammates, bad teammates”, as the journalist let out a laugh. His (almost serious) humourous sarcasm continued with him calling his teammates “terrible” along with the reporter.

Hearing this, we are pretty sure his teammates will be required to plan out a big surprise to please the Joker! Especially for his 30th next year. After all, it is a major milestone!

A hint for his teammates – something related to horses, maybe?

The lack of a gift from his team did not seem to affect his performance on the court tonight. Jokic seemingly dished out 16 asssits, leading to a 119-103 win over Stephen Curry and Co. at the Chase Center.

Nikola Jokić and his race to being the MVP

Jokic was at it again tonight, leading his team to a glorious victory over the Warriors with 32 points, 16 assists, and 16 rebounds. So even though he might not get a gift from his “terrible terrible” teammates, his stunning performance nevertheless is making his case stronger to become an MVP once again.

This is how his numbers look from the past 3 games:

He is shooting 68.6% from the field. He is efficient, consistent, and incredible.  Considering his numbers game, the Joker has put up 82 points, 50 rebounds and 45 assists in these 3 games alone. Comparing him to the legendary Wilt Chamberlain (1968), he is the second player in the NBA history to have these numbers in just 3 games.

Winning over the GSW franchise tonight was a big achievement, considering his massive scores. It was also his 18th 30+ points game this season. So, with Embiid out this season because of his injuries, and Shai-Gilgous-Alexander trailing slightly behind, it seems Jokic has started to step up his game, becoming a massive contender for this year’s MVP as well.

But, we still hope, despite winning as many MVPs, or championships, his “terrible terrible” teammates don’t repeat the same mistake when Jokic turns 30 next year!
