Trash-talking LeBron James may be the daftest thing to do in professional sports. Several opponents like Klay Thompson and Lance Stephenson have found that out the hard way. It’s safe to suggest that King James takes no prisoners, even with his son. LeBron’s younger son, Bryce James, recently found out what it’s like to be on the receiving end of King James’ masterclass in humility.

About a week ago, Bryce James posted some clips via his official Instagram handle of a shoot around he had with LeBron in their LA mansion’s driveway. In the videos, LeBron James could be seen taking some long-range shots, with Bryce playfully trash-talking him in the background. Bryce quipped, “You trash, you suck.” Despite his younger son’s trash-talking, King James wasn’t bothered. After sinking all his shots, LeBron responded to Bryce’s jabs by saying, “I’m [the] G.O.A.T., bro. G-O-A-T! What’re you talking about, stop playing with me.”

Following LeBron James’ shooting masterclass, it was Bryce’s turn. However, the 16-year-old just couldn’t replicate his father’s shooting form, missing multiple shots. Although one shot went in, it had too much rim action. Pouncing on this, Bron hilariously remarked, “That was too much rim, champ.” When looking at the clips posted by Bryce, one might jump to the conclusion that he isn’t a really good 3-point shooter. However, during his time with Sierra Canyon, Bryce James has proved to be a very competent 3-point shooter. Despite this, Bryce hasn’t received adequate game time for Sierra Canyon in his junior season. However, in order to improve his game, the 16-year-old has joined Nike’s EYBL tournament.

Bryce James’ EYBL season is off to a flier

The 14th season of Nike EYBL (Elite Youth Basketball League) kicked off in Memphis with much hype and fanfare. Bryce James, one of the major attractions at the tournament, grabbed the attention of several media houses as he made his 17U debut in EYBL. His team, Strive For Greatness, began their campaign impressively, defeating ‘Why Not’ by 11 points.

Following his team’s incredible performance, Savannah James instantly congratulated Bryce and the SFG. She took to Instagram and shared a mixtape of Strive For Greatness’ first EYBL game, with the captions, ““Let’s go SFG!!!” Although they began the tournament with a win, SFG couldn’t sustain their momentum. Since then, they’ve lost two consecutive games, bringing their total wins to just one out of three matches.

However, that’s to be expected, given the level of competition involved in the tournament. Apart from Bryce James, there are other highly touted players hooping this season’s EYBL. Five-star recruits like AJ Dybantsa, Cameron, and Cayden Boozer (former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer’s twin sons), and Kiyan Anthony (son of 10x NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony) have all showcased their talents in the opening game of this season’s EYBL.
