Recently a 60 Minutes feature has been done on Paul. The episode includes several aspects of his life and most importantly his rise to fame and riches. Paul is now worth over $120 million and represents some of the biggest names in the sports business. However, he didn’t have as solid a head-start in his career as he would’ve wanted.

Growing up, Paul lost his father to cancer, making his day-to-day life extremely difficult to go through. In order to deal with the financial issues and make a living, he turned to the ugly side of society at a very young age.

Paul revealed in the episode that he used to sell drugs to survive in his everyday life. Resorting to such things when there was nowhere to go, he revealed that his mother was addicted to drugs, the same drugs that he used to sell on the streets. There was a huge reason behind Paul’s desperation to earn money, and that was the absence of his father.

He said, “The absence of my dad allowed me to take that step”. However, the 41-year-old believes if his father was around, he wouldn’t have gotten himself into such things as he had too much respect for his father. He added that it isn’t something he wants to “glorify”, but just a result of an unfortunate situation early in his life.

Adamant to make his dreams come true, Paul did whatever it took to experience success. When labeled a “hustler” for his drug activities, he said even Jeff Bezos is a hustler and so is Phil Knight. The difference is that they can sell their ideas to any room and people will be willing to give them a chance.

However, in his case, he didn’t receive a similar response which compelled him to break down the doors that weren’t opening for him.
