Draymond Green dropped an appalling claim amid Team USA’s dominant stretch. The team took on Puerto Rico in their last group stage game and produced yet another blowout, sealing the top seed in the tournament. Now that the team has entered the knockout rounds, LeBron James & Co. will take on Brazil in the quarter-finals to keep their quest for gold alive. Amid this crucial point, the Golden State Warriors star went on air, trashing the South American side along with the team’s possible semi-final opponent, Canada.

Featuring in the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show after the Puerto Rico, Green picked up the mic for the US side’s quarter-final clash. Notably, DrayMagic’s Warriors teammate Gui Santos is part of the Brazil roster. While he gave a shout-out to Santos, Green didn’t hesitate to trash the team the very next second.

The 4x NBA Champ said, “It’s great to see the Brazilians get there. Love the Brazilians. Shout out to Gui Santos. Young fella playing for Brazil, representing his country. I love to see it. They stand no chance. They’ll lose by 35 to 40 points and Team USA will move on to the semifinals.” Importantly, Green just didn’t trash the side without giving an explanation. The 34-year-old felt that the South American side was fairly inexperienced. He further dropped names of Brazilian legends like Leandro Barbosa and Anderson Varejão, whom he felt could change the scenario.

Nevertheless, it’s quite early to write off a team, especially in the knockout rounds. In the three group stage games, the Brazilian side showed all-around ability while it didn’t rely on an individual like the majority of the teams in the tournaments. The players to take note in the team are Cristiano Felício, Léonardo Meindl, Yago Santos, and Bruno Caboclo. Nevertheless, Draymond Green shrugged off the Brazilian side and moved on to trash the Canadian side.

Draymond Green reasons why Canada cannot beat Team USA

First and foremost, Team Canada is stacked with stars from the NBA. Notably, 2023-24 MVP runner-up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander alongside Jamal Murray stands as the face of the team’s offense. Even though Murray hasn’t played to his standards yet, averaging 5.6 points so far in the tournament, R J Barrett has come out all guns blazing.

Despite the threatening lineup in the defensive end with the likes of Luguentz Dort, Kelly Olynyk, and Dwight Powell, Draymond Green still feels that Canada can’t win the USA.Speaking of the possible match-up in the future, Green said, “The reason Canada cannot even compete with Team USA is Canada doesn’t have the bigs. Dwight Powell and Kelly Olynyk, respect for both of those guys as basketball players, but they’re not near good enough to compete with Bam Adebayo, Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis.”

Undoubtedly, the American bigs have come out as dominant rim protectors. Especially with Anthony Davis on the side, the LA Lakers center has hosted a block party ever since he left the US for the Olympics challenge. Nevertheless, Canada has to beat France before facing the US in the upcoming rounds.
