With the 2024 Paris Olympics around the corner, Draymond Green seems to be on a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about his previous Olympics appearances. In the latest episode of the Draymond Green Show, the forward revealed the challenges that Team USA had to go through to win the gold medal in the 2020 Olympics. While it was not exactly like the ‘Dream Team’, it was still enough to secure a gold medal.

When talking specifically about their opening match against France, Draymond Green made a remark that came as a shock to many fans. He said, “…Evan Fournier, Patty Mills, you see those guys you see them in the NBA, when they go over there and they play for their country, them boys is different. They like Steph Curry.”

Evan Fournier and Patty Mills aren’t household names in the NBA. While their stints in the association may have difficulties, their international performance has not deterred over the years, leaving Draymond Green astounded. Despite their importance to their national teams, Fournier and Mills have gradually become rotation players on their respective NBA teams. Injuries and constant trades have made them an afterthought in the league and have jeopardized their NBA careers.

The Warriors star putting the two struggling NBA veterans in 2x MVP Stephen Curry’s shoes is justified after they wreaked havoc against Team USA in the 2020 Olympics. Despite fielding a strong starting five, Team USA lost their first game to France by a scoreline of 83-76. However, as fate would have it, Team USA bounced back and made it all the way to the finals. This was a chance for redemption as they faced France again and won with a score of 87-82, capturing their fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

Although Steph and LeBron weren’t part of the 2020 Olympics roster, they have shown an interest in representing Team USA in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
