What did Chris Paul do?

In the Warriors’ away game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Paul called for a Spanish pick and roll. It all started with him dribbling past Zion and leading the side from the half-court while dictating the play. Chris then entered the high post through the top of the key before releasing the ball to readjust his position.

He moved beyond the three-point arc to position himself right on the edge but beyond the line. The 2006 ROTY then patiently waited for the pass to come to him while anticipating the direction of it. Soon after getting the basketball in his hands, he faked a pass to his teammate on the wing to distract opponents.

This allowed him a bit more time with the ball as he shot an uncontested three-pointer with ten minutes to go in the first half. The move paid off as the 12x All-Star scored to give his squad a two-point lead with the 29-27 scoreline after that sequence. During his stint with his previous franchise, the Phoenix Suns, the guard used to run this play.
